I think I've said this before, but I had an embarrassing twitch in my eyelid one day when the postman knocked the door with a parcel. I was still in my dressing gown , answered the door and my eye started winking at him LOL.. The poor guy looked scared to death ! I can't face him now lol .

I had face twitches before I ever started on Pregablin and I have found that I have been better on it. Hope you get sorted xx

I get lots of twitches, normally in my cheek or eye lid, but occasionally in my thumbs and fingers too . Really annoying when a part of your body takes on a life of it's own.

I'm not on pregablin though, so I always just put it down to one of those annoying Fibro things .

Hugs

Twitching is a very common symptom with Fibromyalgia, it won't be the medications you are taking that makes you twitch, It can be be very painful and annoying with muscle twitching and weakness. This can exacerbate other Fibro symptoms too.

Some causes of twitching can be -

muscle fatigue

muscle strain or injury

emotional stress or anxiety

certain medications

caffeine

nervous system disorder

Muscle twitching in Fibromyalgia seems to be related to the location of specific tender points throughout the body. These tender points tend to irritate nerves in the body, which may cause muscles to twitch involuntarily. Muscle twitching may also be related to the high incidence of sleep related disorders in Fibromyalgia, including bruxism and restless leg syndrome. Though the cause of these disorders remains unknown, they do cause involuntary and compulsive muscle twitches. Muscle weakness is also a major problem for Fibromyalgia sufferers.

Involuntary muscle twitching can be treated at home, with a routine of stretching and exercise. By gently stretching out and massaging the affected muscle, you should be able to reduce the severity of the twitching. Some sufferers find that walking or using the affected muscle also helps to stop the twitching. If your twitching is interfering with your sleep patterns, have a word with your Doctor about it and whether you would may be suitable for anti-spasmodic medications. :) :)

What do you do when yor scalp actualy ripples,it`s the only way I can describe it,it is quite strange when it happens. And luckily it`s at night when I`m trying to go to sleep,I`m very relaxed when it does it.

But you wouldn`t think there was anything there to do that would you? I do massage my scalp when it doe`s it,but it takes it`s own sweet time to stop.

That's weird Jayne ! I get that too and I've never seen it mentioned before so I thought it was just me.

It is a very strange feeling , like you I try and massage it away- and like yours it generally happens at night.

This condition certainly is a strange one .

Hi Helen, isn`t that strange, mine started about a year ago. It`s not unpleasent or painful,in fact it makes me giggle to myself.

But there can`t be muscles there,so what is it?

I haven`t had a migraine or been uptight when it happens it just comes on.

Another of bloody fibro`s little mysteries.I see my rheumy end of the month, will try and remember to mention it.

Hope you are O.K hun, have you heard anything from Kia at all,she has me worried.PM me on that one if you know anything please.

Love and hugs Jayne xxxxx

I was trying to describe it to Rich one night, and the nearest I could get was telling him it felt like being pregnant under the skin on my head LOL . It feels like it's not * me * moving , but something just rippling under the skin.

He said " so it feels like you've got an alien under there " ... Daft devil !

I'm Ok thanks, still waiting for that brown envelope of doom !

Sent PM.

Hugs

Brilliant way of describing it Helen! I get it often too, especially when I'm trying to relax. I am convinced I've got creepy crawlies in my hair, hundreds of them. I even had hubby check my hair once. When I press my fingers along the top of my head when it's happening, I can almost feel my scalp rippling like little waves on a seashore, back and forth with the tide. It's really weird isn't it. Just another symptom of Fibro, so it seems. I've heard other people say they experience it too. :) :)
