GP has given me BuTrans to take but told me not to take my Dihydrocodeine. As I took 2 of these at 4p.m. yesterday when whould you suggest me putting the patch on. They're only 5mcg and will they be really affective? Was told my blood test for Thyroid has come back very low and been put on tabletsfor that. Take it it will be OK to take with BuTrans. Know I should have asked GP all these questions but you know what its like. You,re always aware of the other people waiting in waiting room. Any advice appreciated.

TBH I would ask a pharmacist what to take when and what is okay to take together and if they can't help, call your GP's surgery and explain that they didn't make it clear what to take when so could the doctor call you back.

This article may help though as it contains further sources of information, such as on drug interactions:

fibroaction.healthunlocked....

I can tell you that it class drug A and is like

Fentanyl, and is good for pain it is a opiate

It is used for chronic pain relief if you have any

Trouble with the patch and things you can take

And not take ask your doctor. There is a web site

Which is butrans.co.uk

And yes they will be very effective,

I seem like a know all don't I sorry

I am used to nursing patients with

Palliative care needs and chronic pain

Ah,thank you my love. Its onlyt a small dose at the moment but as I am getting older (75)as usual, and as can be expected things are really beginning to go downhill. Had ME/FM/CS now OA since l989 when I was about 52. Dihydrocodeine and the such dont even look at me now so GP is trying patches. Was just wondering when to start them as thought I may still have Dihydro still in my system,

Many thanks for your advice.

X

Hi i am butrans 20 mg if i were you i would definately ask your doctor all thes equestions as we dont know your medical history or to be honest the pharmacist would be just as helpful i know mine are at my surgery or why not call the nhs direct and ak them they are 24/7 and are also helpful as i called them when i went on 5 mg 3 years ago and after a week was put on 10 then another week 20 and i was so very ill i ripped the patch off then panicked so called nhs direct who were very helpful their number is 0845 4647 good luck i wish i could help more but i am not a doctor and do not know your medical history lol good luck with it any way love diddle x

Can't be to careful can you diddle

Its a scary thing to,start and effects everyone different

People start on a low dose and work there way Up

I don't know why GPs don't explain things, pharmacists

Are good after all they deal with things like this all the

Time don't they

I hope that it works for you now at least takes some

Of the pain

Hugs

Thanks again Viv. Pain is starting to kick in now but I will try and hold off taking them. Only thing is that with the pain comes the panic. I must try to have more patience. I like things to work at once. I'll try a couple of Paracetamol and "pretend" I've taken the DyHydo. I am a fool!!haha.
