Hiya, I was wondering if anyone is on gabapentin?

Hiya, I was wondering if anyone is on gabapentin? And do u actually find that it helps? Myself I think its one of the tablets that u think it doesn't help but if u came off it you would be in agony? Or maybe not. Is there other medication that anyone of uz would recommend for my pain? Xx

Hi, I've been on it for a long time, and my pain consultant says it is very similar in action to pregabilin. I am trying to reduce it to the level of where it makes a difference to my pain and I don't get so many of the side effects. I was on 6 x 600mg a day and am at 4 x 600mg at the moment. the reduction didn't make a lot of difference, but I tend to 'throb' with pain if I drop it below the 4 - so it helps but my pain consultant said the effectiveness of the drugs with fms is a lot to do with absorption rather than the drug - and drugs require absorption to be effective. He told me that is why the pain is so difficult to treat in fms. Give it a try - but I have been adapting to the fact, a pain free existence is probably a dream rather than reality.

Hi, im on Gabapentin. Im on 1500mg aday. The Dr is slowly increasing it. To be honest i think it is helping. But ive just been put on Tramodol, and thats helping. I dont think i will ever be free from pain. But i live in hope lol. Hug & love to you. Helen xxx

hi i was on Gabapentin, but it did not work 4 me, i now am on Tramodol can take 2 4 times a day, but when in bad it does not help, feed up with it

Hi Elouise, i am on 3x 600 gabapentin at the moment, my rheummy doubled my dose last week and so far i am not feeling any better but i dont know how long it will take to see any benefits.....i was on 3x 300 a day. I dont feel it is doing anything to help but then if im late taking a dose i soon know about it! My joints and especially my knees hurt so much at the moment i could cry but i will perservere for now. Hope this helps x

I call it my wonder drug.

The burning pain i used to have in my arms and neck was so bad it makes me cry. Gabapentin is the only thing that helps that pain. Before i took gabapentin i used to take the doseage of cocodamol and it didnt touch the pain. Now i am on gabapentin i only need three cocdamol on a normal pain day. I take 1800mg of gabapentin and i know i couldnt do without it now.

I'm on Pregabalin and just increased dose to 100mg twice a day and it's helping greatly with pain so far..........

I'm on 1200 gabapentin three times a day. I was on slow release dihydrocodeine 90mg twice a day. I came off them and increased the gabapentin. I'm also on ibuprofen,paracetamol and dihydrocodeine 30mg three times a day. I'm sick of tablets and them not working. I take hydroxychloroquine sulphate as I have lupus of the skin and photo sensitive. My pigmentation has went wonky too. It's also the weight iv put on it has a large impact on my pain Mobility. Has anyone put on weight with gabapentin? Or is it part of our condition? It's horrid that everyone on here is hurting but it is nice to know I'm not alone xx

Yes i have put two stone on, not all of it is because of gabapentin. It also has to do with not being as mobile as i used to. But i would rather be over weight than have that pain. You just cant win can you?

No you can't win. It's such a joke when u think uv got something under control another part of ur body starts playing up lol. My memorys completely knackered I can imagine it lying on its side gasping for breath lol. I have so much trouble with my hearing and my speech gets slurred when I'm tired. Every part of my body screams alday in pain. I keep side step left while walking pushing the person beside me on the road. My ankles,legs,hips and back limits how far I can walk. Iv now got a hump and allergic to the sun and have to use factor 50 when I go out lol. There's lots more. I either was a bad person in a previous life or this is some higher beings sick joke lol. I

laugh at myself and my many conditions cause if I didn't I'd cry and never stop xx

My skin doesnt like the sun neither lol.

My hearing is bad i have to lip read and my speech can get bad. My walking is limited all the time, but ido push my body, i try so hard to be normal lol.

I have many conditions too and it is so hard, i love this site as everybody understands.

I took Gabapentin for around a year a few years ago for pain relief after a major back operation.

It was great - numbed everything, no pain and lots of sleep

Getting off it was a terrible experience for me, even gradually tapering it down made for life hell for weeks and I still had some side effects months afterwards

Just beware that it can be a problem for some

hi elouise im new to this forum but thought id share with you what im taking. yes im taking 1200mg of gabapentin 3x aday and also 2 to 3 amittriptyline 10mg to help aid my sleep

Hi I'm new to this site and have just started taking Gabapentin I am finding that it does help me some what ~ I am still on a low dose ~ I have found it makes me feel quite calm in a strange way but I am still getting pain. Lots of joint clicking still going on and my day seems extended a bit. Where before I couldn't wait to go and lie down even if not to sleep I am managing to stay up a little longer.I keep getting a fuzzy buzz in my head and ears......is this common?

An OP that figures, whenever i forget to take my gabapentin (even with a med minder on my phone) i am in agony, but when i take it i am severely fogged out

I'm on 6 tablets 3 times a day. My joints click quite a bit but that is my EDS/HMS for you.
