Hello stitch, gentle hugs,

I've taken many stumbles over the years - my legs seem to freeze and refuse to move as I'm walking and down I go. :-(

Love,

Carol xx

Hi Stitch, yes I have this problem a lot and have started using my walking stick when I am out to give myself some stability I hate doing so but I would rather do this than fall down and hurt myself further

Yes i stumble quite often, sometimes i fall right down, sometimes i go over on my ankle and make a right prat of myself.

I go through phases but i am sure its my bodys way of telling me to slow down.

I have broke my toe and had plenty of bruises due to it.

hugs, kel xxxx

I can relate to this too. I bought a walking stick last year as I was wobbly and kept crashing into walls or tripping over paving slabs! I found my medications at the time made me sleepy and I became clumsier at these times. I went to my GP and then was referred on to my Rheumatogist and my meds were changed making me feel generally more awake. Since then my stumbling has improved no end, I don't use my walking stick at all at the moment. It must be a worry when you fall over - I agree with jazher, sometimes it's our bodies saying slow down, you're overdoing it! Be careful though folks and take care when walking etc., if you need a walking stick or crutches, walking frame or your wheelchair, it's always best to use them to help you keep safe. :) :)

Yes I am doing the same. When mentioned it to doctor and occupational therapist they looked at me like I was mad. Do feel very alone with this illness and have gone downhill very quick. I have not been offered any walking aid but did buy myself a walking stick to help me from stumbling over the flat ground.

Yes, i often stumble, i find it quite embarassing. Also, sometimes when im walking, my foot decides to drag like there is no life in it.xxx

Hi stiich1997,

I do it all the time too and sometimes it feels like someone has kicked me at the back of one knee and I just fall over. It frightens shopkeepers! I use sticks now when I'm out and about.

happy hugs, kate :)

I too stumble sometimes, it was one of my first symptoms. Firstly it feels like i am wading through water then i get burning sensations up and down my legs and then start tripping and stumbling. I have never actually fallen because as soon as i recognise the feeling i look for somewhere to sit. Bus stops, garden walls once on the floor in the shopping centre. Learn to recognise the feelings that come just before you start tripping and you may be able to save yourself from falling over. Good luck Tina

I am regarded as "clumsy", but these past few years I have stumbled and fallen over quite a few times. Even on a zebra crossing with queue of traffic both ways (very embarrassing!). Only last week a fell down the stairs and broke my ankle. As it is always my right foot which causes it, and I have broken my left ankle, it has given me and my family a good giggle trying to sort me out. Crutches are terrible cos I just over balance and have now settled on crawling to the toilet, much to my 9 mth old grandsons amusement!

thanks to everyone who answered at least i feel now that i am not abnormal with this or alone. Think i will be heading down the road of a stick to help my balance when i am out

Me also, no falls, but too many times, sort of tripping over one foot, as though It gets caught on the rug or I did not lift it high enough. Also, in horrible pain all over, but hips and knees are really feeling it and interfering with sleep.
