My Hubby and I are trying to organise a short holiday,

The last one we had was Portugal about 10 years ago,We had 2 weeks of total relaxation, eating healthy food and beautiful views, I only used my wheelchair for 2 days and then just used it for balance and "Just in case"By the time we stepped foot on terra ferma waiting for our cases I started to feel anxious and I started to have a panic attack,

Thank goodness for the chair, Hubby wheeled me into the fresh air and went back to grab our stuff,

Trouble is it was late sept and was freezing.I laid in the back of my car with our coats piled on me and we were on our way.

It was a 3 hr drive home and when we got there the only energy I had was to heave my fat ar2eupstairs and into my bed.I couldn't funtion for a month!!

What the heck????

The only thing I can manage is a weekend away if that, We do have a new respect for our country,The west coast of Scotland is our No1 go to

What part of our country do you all love to visit?

Have a fab week end hopefully not in too much pain

I may be slightly biased - but definitely recommend Scotland. Basing yourself in central Scotland (Perth for example) would give you access to both the west and east coasts within a few hours driveOn the west side, loch lomond & the trossachs are a good base.

I would also recommend heading north to the Highlands and islands, but that may be too long a journey for you depending on where you stay

Thankyou for your reply, My Husband was born in Glasgow (1955) But a lot has changed apparently ha ha

We love the crisp air in the Highlands Gairloch, We know a great guy who has a fully disabled

crafters cottageand

We repeated our vows in Dingwall,so beautiful, The one thing I (and Scots) I got a bit crazy over, sniffing whilst hanging out the washing and all the midges going up my nose,

We're just outside Glasgow

Dingwall is lovely (love that whole area) - but my go to is Orkney. Takes is a full day to get there between the 6 hour drive, then an hour on the ferry - but worth it xxx

Thanks for your reply,If we could afford it we could afford it we would travel around Scotland in a motor home and just not have to worry about a single thing

I had to leave my beautiful home in the Welsh Mountains when I became too ill to cope with the cold, the steep ground, getting snowed in and trying to heat an ancient farmhouse. I decided to find somewhere to live that I would have visited on holiday if I'd been well enough to travel. It also had to be affordable, safe and flat. I now live on the banks of Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the weather is "gentle"; never too hot or too cold. From here, I can see the snow on top of the Mournes but no longer have to battle through it.

Friends who live in Scotland find it much easier to get to me here, too!

I'd recommend it - except that the state of the NHS is the worst in the whole UK. Luckily, people here are SO friendly and helpful. I feel more safe, content and supported than I have since I became so ill.I

Wherever you choose to live, I hope you find your home and your tribe.

actually I go to hot dry places as I always feel better in the heat,, so much so that I am selling up in Scotland and moving to Andalusia in Spain, which has the only desert in Europe and is hot and dry for most of the year, I feel especially good by the sea with heat and low humidity, so there is a beach town called Mojacar, that I have been to several times, and always feel better when I’m there so now I’m moving there. nearly all my aches and pains subside when I’m there, and exercise is easier, and the diet is better( less carbs),

for a start, its possibly climate change, im guessing you were warm n cosily comfortable with no worries hence you relax, not just in yr mind but yr whole body. I think that would be a big part of your home coming shock. So now all what u worry over has missed u and jumped aboard so to speak. Its probably a lot colder at home, only been scotland once and it rained for a week. Cost of Living hike doesnt help, so thats another problem in yr head, its cold and u dont know whether its ok to put heating on because you;ve gone from warm daily to cold and body needs get used to the change, so u probably feel the cold more, all these factors gang up on you and its like you never had a blissful week of empty headed relaxation.

Yes indeed ANJI-UK sounds about right. My hubby and I had really good jobs that we enjoyed,We didn't have money worries per say and would take plenty of day trips,

Now we worry (like thousands of people) and have Universal credit and Hubbys pension We still have to pay rent as well as every day stuff ,Thank goodness we are both on PIP It justs takes longer to save for the good stuff such is life,We all have our dreams 👍

Hiya Debs,

I’d have to recommend The West Country Devon n Cornwall as there is so much beautiful scenery. I would also suggest u stay by the sea. As since I’ve lived here right on the seafront I have no problem sleeping as the sea air knocks me out around midnight most days. I don’t struggle so much with that dreaded morning stiffness n lastly u get a lot of sunshine which helps boost your mood. U don’t even need to walk far as u can see most places by car. Be aware there are some steep cobbled streets in places like St Ives for example so be sure to Google the area before booking. Happy hunting, gentle hugs 😊🤗
