Hi deb, welcome to our community. You can find general information on fibromyalgia at our main website fmauk.org including our information booklets at fmauk.org/publications

there is no known connection between fibromyalgia and parkinsons

Hi. As you read more you will see that some consider fibro autoimmune, some immune mediated and some neither. Some say it is neurological. It does seem to occur frequently in people with autoimmune conditions, but it is common, as is autoimmunity. If it is an imbalance of neurotransmitters there could be connections to Parkinson's. COMT inhibitors are used in Parkinson's, whereas slow COMT function has been associated (by some) with fibro. This one is long and I've only just found it myself, but it does seem to suggest that fibro sufferers can have either high enzyme activity or low enzyme activity, which is something that I've previously wondered about. Ideally we want to be in the sweet spot. The difference could explain why some react well to a treatment and some don't and why some are prone to Parkinson's or Parkinsonism, and some aren't. Of course you cannot look at any SNP in isolation, but food for thought mdpi.com/2077-0383/9/8/2479...

And you aren't the only one wondering the same thing
