Various blood tests not completed by GP

Im currently having issues with hypertension, neck and checking my thyroid bloods (paying private) Anyway I am confused to my previous blood request via private rheumatologist back in November. I have checked my results online she (rheumatologist) requested ANA (autoimmune), ENA (lupus/sjorgens), ANCA (blood vessel disorder), HLA-B27 (Spondylitis). None of these were done! I had the following: ANCA screen - shows no result. Immunity done all ok, misc is blank. I am confused by this as they havent done what was asked. Am I being thick here as I paid a lot for these letters and zoom meeting. So according to this sjorgens, lupus, spondylitis hasnt been checked then. The Rhum didnt say anything in the letter. Really confused to this. Something is seriously amiss here. Can GPs do this and how come the rheuy can write back with zero results?

Just to clarify, your private rheumy asked the GP to do the blood tests and your GP only ran some of them?

If that’s correct, I would first call your GP and check there are no results missing in action or nothing awry in the results that have come to you.

If they definitely haven’t been done, I’d write to your GP, attach a copy of the original request form the private rheumy, and ask if the extra tests can please be performed.

I would also write to the private rheumy and update them - saying it appears there were blood tests missing and you’d appreciate if they could briefly review the additional results when they arrive. Hopefully they won’t charge you for this.

Hope that helps x

yes, spot on, and Ive just realised after checking them regularly due to taking high BP meds and other horrible issues with my neck. The bloods were taken in November. I had to chase Rhumy to Jan for follow up. Once she replied to GP there was standard letter instructing GP to offer me meds for poss Sjorgens or fibro. Makes no sense to me.

It's possible your GP can't do these tests and they have to be done at hospital, I've had this before especially with antibody tests.

Possible but nothing mentioned in November when I phoned to book them with GP. and Rhumy didnt question where they were. The GP just did standard bloods. I will phone on Monday and ask where these are.

Some possibilities...:

Some of the tests take quite a bit longer to get results than others, how long after after your blood was taken did you look online? My lip biopsy result for Sjögren's wasn't clear for me to read (even using web-info) so I had to phone with my rheum. about it.

I once asked for ATP to be done before and after exercise. The results were unclear. I cdn't get hold of my endocrinologist to speak about it for months. So I phoned the lab itself and they helped.

Bottom line, as LoneEra says: Check back with them all, before spending more time pondering about what might have gone wrong... :-)

November and had letter after chasing Rhumy to call me back in January. It was a battle to be honest seeing I paid £250 for a zoom consult and was expecting her to check the results properly. I cant understand why she didnt say many of the results were missing. Second private consult after the first one was pathetic waste of £150 just to say not really typical of fibro and I had to mention sjorgens and he tested my eyes. Gave me a fibro leaflet and supposed to ask for full bloods again. Very poor.

This is one reason it isn't a good idea to mix Private with National Health; in many ways they work in different ways and are nor always compatible.

I spoke to GP and all the tests were done but they are saved on the hospital system not the GPs. However none of them were related back to me even by both the NHS and the private rheumy and HLA-B27 came back positive! No one mentioned this I am very annoyed. HLA-B27 can be RA and Axial SpA. I am going to go back to Rheuy as I would of expected some feedback from that!
