Hi all new to this group. I was unwell for 2 years and going through every test you could think of to figure out what was wrong with me. Nobody knew. All health professionals just but it down to anxiety and physiological trouble. I was left thinking i was going mad for a long time. Until i had a consulant who would actually listen to me to tell me there is definitely something going on and concluded i have fibromyalgia. Recently diagnosed in april this year. I have severe headaches everyday and no matter what i do they are there. Also the pressure on my chest is really bad having a hot water bottle on it everyday. My stomach so tight and my breathing has never been the same since being unwell 2 years ago. my body hurts so bad all the time and i feel my mental health is really taking a big hit im struggling to cope. evertime i talk about it people just roll their eyes at me and because they can't always see something physical they just conclude im being dramatic and lazy. I work full time as a chef but with the on going pandemic I've been off for 8months. Just writing this post really to see that other people really feel like i do and how they cope with it. I feel extremely anxious all the time and dont know what to do with that.

Sorry for the long post

Thankyou

HI I really feel for you I know exactly where you are coming from !! Iam in a very similar way to you except I am now disabled due other things as well !! I found nothing helps with pain although I found out about Botox injections for head, neck and shoulder pain relief! And I it sounds silly but I had my first one 2 months ago due next one next month so far some improvement will have to give it some time to see if they give more relief. anyway could be worth looking into? take care keep safe and have a great and happy Christmas

from Norman !!

Hi Wow chef is a pretty full on job must have been very difficult for you to juggle your health around such frenetic job. I have very high anxiety levels, which is partly why I have a high heart rate apparently and insomnia, its very difficult to manage as obviously it makes us quick to get stressed. Are you having and treatment for your headaches?

Hi, yeah its a pretty full on job and i love it but im not sure if i need to go part time because I've been really struggling. Sorry to hear that, i experience that aswell. Im not having treatment specifically for headaches or anything actually. Just take 25mg of amitriptyline on an evening and co-codamol when i need it but doesn't seem to help

I have chronic migraines which go up and down in severity. They can become constant at times, for 6 weeks for example. But there are a huge amount of treatments available and it's best to stop them before they become too chronic. I think you should maybe talk to your doctor about it?

Welcome to the weird and wonderful Fibro Club!

Firstly, could I ask you to lock your post to this community, as many folk won't answer unlocked posts and sensitive medical information can be accessed from an unlocked post.

Yes, it is a long drawn-out journey to get a diagnosis of Fibro, sometimes it can take years, and Fibro shares symptoms with a lot of other conditions, so it is important to exclude these first.

Your symptoms suggest that Stress is a large part of your daily problem, which is not that surprising as being a chef is very stressful.

Many folk will roll their eyes as they don't understand Fibro; It has had a very bad press in the past, even many doctors would sooner prescribe antidepressants than tackle the basics of it. I'm a retired nurse, not a doctor, so I can't be a great help, except in suggesting things which work for me. None of us are medically qualified here, and I would suggest that if you are unsure of any medication you are on, that firstly you talk with a Pharmacist; they know far more about the drugs they supply than doctors.

Please look up The Spoon Theory on the Net. It can help you explain to others what happens to you over the course of the day, and why you can be totally wiped out some days.

Cheers, Midori

Welcome to the forum Westchef. I can certainly relate to everything you have said. I have massages/trigger point but to keep the cost down I also have one of those massage balls, that I put in a pair of tights and use to push up against the wall - to help get the knots out and I do yoga to help with the seizing up. I do also have reflexology every so often.

I do have buffered vitamin C to help support my adrenal glads when things are stressful or I am in a "flare up" I also found what really helped was getting on the treadmill, trying to excert myself enought to get my metabolic rate up but being careful not to overdo it - must listen to your body, it will let you know when your overdoing it.

Also if I am feeling bad, stressed or worried I take my mind off things I watch something funny or maybe a really good film, it gives you that much needed brake.

I hope you feel better soon 😊
