Tens machine ???

A friend has suggested I try a tens machine , I’m a bit doubtful, has anyone used these with any success??

Yes I have one. Used it once only. Felt some relief whilst using it, nothing to scream and shout about.

Pain was just as predominant as soon as I removed the pads. I'd say their okay, mediocre x

Only used one when really desperate mainly bc it doesn't really work. I have been advised to use it for migraines and pregnancy too, it's a distraction at least which can settle your mind when it comes to handling the pain emotionally. I was told years later by a maternity nurse that you have to use it 45 minutes to really start feeling the benefit which I'd probably never done.....

Hi Kim, ive used one for the last 25 years and would not be without mine. Mainly I put it on for up to an hour at a time. But do do use it in shorter bursts through out the day. Like most things some find it helpful others don't. The only way to know is to try one I guess. If you decide to buy one I hope it helps you

Yes, couldn’t be without it. About £20-£25 LloydsParmacy. Had it for about two years. Sticky pads season to replace via Amazon.

I have a tens machine I found they work good but my pain comes back soon as I take it off I used to keep it on for ages I did ask the Dr first because it only says half hour on the box hope it works well for you xx

I have used one for years more for my osteoarthritis than my fibromyalgia. The pai specialist actually told me to ignore the instructions and put it o a low tapping setting for 4 hours a day! I ow only use it if things are very bad as I through trial and error I found the more I used it the less it seemed to work. My GP said it is a distractor more than a cure but when you are in continuous pain you clutch at every straw. The one I found the best was one I had from LLOYD'S chemist which was a Tens, EMS and massage machine. I felt the EMS setting did my fibro more good as it stimulates the muscles and putting it o a low massage also helped.

The trouble with anything js what suits one doesn't suit a other. My friend managed to get one through the NHS in the Pain Clinic. Hooe whatever you decide to buy helps.x

I have one and use it for specific pain, like on my shoulder girdle. I leave mine on all day. It does alleviate the pain but it usually comes back when I take it off.

Yeah I have a tens machine and it’s the one form Lloyd’s for £20, it works well for my pain

Don’t know where your pain is but I bought one from Amazon - absolutely well worth the money. Wish you better x

Not really, the effects were minimal and and did not last that long. I would go as far as saying it was a bit of a waste of money, used it a few times but been in the draw ever since

Hi, I use one especially during the really bad flare up times and it does help. I bought an Intellistim from Amazon about the same size as a mobile phone a few years ago (my Pain Consultant advised I try one) and have had no problems with it. I did purchase some new sticky pads last year but it has been a very reliable wee gadget and you can control how light or heavy and different type of pulses to suit your needs. Hope it helps you if you decide to purchase one.

P.S. Having read some of your replies I can honestly say the Intellistim I use gives off powerful pulses depending on how high you want the settings to be and I have never known it to lessen during use. I have a feeling it was about £60 or thereabouts when I purchased several years ago but it's been very reliable. I have never tried any other make so can't comment.
