PIP Phone Consultation Tomorrow

Hello, Mads again.

Firstly, I want to thank absolutely everyone who commented on my chest pains post. I’ve spoken to my GP via phone call and he said this is a possibility he hadn’t considered. So I guess that’s... a step?

Anyways, I’m sitting here at 11pm having constant panic attacks over this PIP Consultation. I have meds for my anxiety and they have been helping a great deal but I still get massively stressed out when talking on the phone. I know there is quite simply no way of avoiding this... I don’t have any other support so I need the £200 a month to survive. But I’m terrified they’re going to assume I’m fine because I’m 20 and talking over the phone won’t fully express just how sick I am.

For reference, I may be only 20 years old but I am currently very aggressively suffering from:-

-Anxiety

-BPD

-Depression

-Endometriosis

-Fibromyalgia

-Gastroparesis

-Polycystic Kidney Disease

-PTSD

I’m not going to go into details because I just... don’t like talking about myself. But, with all of that can they stop my PIP? and clear and final instructions from all of my Doctors that I am extremely unfit for work at this time. I had to give up on University and Travelling too because of how ill I am - constantly - every single day.

Has anyone had to do this PIP consultation over the phone? How did it go? What can I expect? Honestly any input or anything at all is very very appreciated and welcomed right now.

Thank you so so much.

Are they making you do you PIP over the phone because of Covid or because of your health as I’ve only ever done it in person and my review was delayed till next year. Totally get your anxiety over having to do it on the phone. It’s a tough process and they can be difficult but regardless of you being young you have diagnosis, you can’t hold down a job, your doctors can back this up they will ask you likely how far you can walk do you use aids make sure you tell them even if you can walk so far for instance you need to keep stopping and if when you walk your in constant pain. Stuff like this I missed in my first pip assessment and my mother in law worked for the DWP and helped me look at what they did wrong in my first interview like they can’t just ask how you are that day and I didn’t know better so I didn’t know that was wrong. Just Make it clear how much you struggle if it’s making you anxious write yourself notes of all the stuff you think it’s important to cover for each of your conditions how they physically and mentally impact you with day to day task like walking making food planning a trip all the paper work you’d have to fill out for pip. I hope maybe that helps think I was a similar age when I first did mine sorry can’t help with the phone call element but the anxiety try prepping and then trying for panic attacks listing five things you can see, hear taste and smell to keep you present good luck. Any other Questions for for Pip I can try to answer or for panic attacks.

Hi I had mine on the phone the other week it lasted 2 hours I was very nervous as well if you can have some one with you it would really help just incase you forget things and be prepared for the same questions just said in a different way from my point of view they don't care what illness you got it's all about the point system they will try to play your condition down so just be very clear to them how much help you need what help you get what aids you use and what pain meds you are on please go into great detail about how your condition effect you out side I told them and the women put down something completely different so don't be afraid of taking your time when answering just explain in great detail but remember these people are there to make it harder for you to get points so if they try to play it down just tell them in your words they even rang me again a few days later and from that 5 min second call they put down I had no ptsd or anxiety but on the plus side I was awarded high for care and standard for mobility . I was just on standered before and I got it for 3 years so just give great detail on each of your condition and you be fine

Good luck let us know how it went x

PIP as you know is a benefit awarded to people who meet the PIP descriptiors in a safe repeatable and in a timely manner. So your phone consultation, assessment will ask you questions relating to the answers you submitted in you application form as how you manage, preform the PIP descriptiors. PIP is not awarded on a diagnosis or illness or the amount of prescription drugs you are taking.

I had mine by phone 2weeks ago and I'm anxiously awaiting the outcome. I did find the whole conversation quite prescriptive and honestly didn't think that I got across what I wanted to or needed to say. However the lady was very friendly and when asking about my mobility outdoors referred to Google maps to ascertain the distances I was talking about. I didn't find it any easier than the first one which took place in my home. I do believe the telephone was used because of Covid . All you can do is be as honest as you possibly can and base all of her questions as if you were in the middle of a flare or suffering a really bad painful day. Relax , good luck , I'm hoping and praying so much mine comes back OK. I just don't know how I would cope without it. Sending love 💘
