Hi Hel52 😊🌿🌸🦋

Yes I would get a letter from your GP explaining your treatment with Gabapentin. It is a controlled drug now and it’s better to have a doctors letter to explain why you are traveling with it.

You will be protected from all of the hassles and flares from any ordeal should it arise.

Take care my friend. Try to have a good time in Florida.

Best wishes my friend.

EJ 😊🙏🤗💗😘🌿🌸🦋😇🕊

healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., hello there, ring your surgery Monday and ask if one of the practioner nurses can do this as they are normally qualified in a lot of things, I’ve just had a letter done from traveling cancellation, there might be a charge but always good to have documents done fo America, like you I am very anxious about traveling, Ive been to Florida twice in the last 8 years, my daughter went for 3 weeks at Xmas, I didn’t go this time as I thought trying to keep up might be more difficult with Fibro/cfs , they seemed to be away for for so long I wish I’d have gone just to do some of the things as I missed my little grand boys soooo much . I am on duloxtene it has worked wonders for me and literally nil anxiety. But yes I know America does require documents for medication, when you perhaps see someone at the surgery explain how you are feeling bad , I know the lead up to any breaks I would get myself in a tizz, last year I did 2 one weeks breaks apart in England and I really felt good , next will be a flight as it been about 3/4 years since my last one , but a change of medication has put me on the right track, good luck xx

Hi YasminTina

Thank you I will ask on Monday I was thinking about the nurse practitioners I use to take sertraline don’t want to go there again with it caused huge weight gain adding stress to my joints due to spondylitis in my lower back my GP had me in tears over my weight gain He said it doesn’t cause weight gain it’s taken years to get it off I have PTSD I found other ways to cope. Bless 3 weeks is a long time not seeing your grand son sometimes we have to do what’s best for us at the time 🌸 I am hoping to keep up myself it takes me weeks to get over a long trip my hubby doesn’t know if we are sitting together on the flight he said he doesn’t care if we aren’t it’s he’s no help and I often wish he’d just go by himself I don’t get stressed about camping in the uk hope you have a good day

My husband has just bought a camper van and an awing as our daughter, husband and the boys have one , so has his parents so we thought we would give it a go, I would have liked a caravan as toilet etc but he wouldn’t drive one, fair enough, I will aim to try, 1st break is London which will be walking etc which is not exactly easy As I have combined cfs/Fibro but I am hoping other hols for the Summer might be a little more laid back. So we will have something in common then. Take care

Hi YASMINTINA

That’s great you’ll have some wonderful times camping is lots of work regarding setting up it’s very relaxing once your sorted especially if you have lots of family to help you set up.

We have had a camper for years on our second one my girls loved camping in their early teens no loo sadly hubby certainly didn’t want to go down that root and no caravan 🥴we live in the south west so lots of great places to camp new forest is my absolute favourite seeing all the ponies donkeys and hairy cows wondering round freely love the attitude they have 🤣😂hope you have a wonderful time when you go thanks for your advice big hugs 🤗

I only took a copy of prescription. Nobody was even interested in our medication

Enjoy your trip XXX

If you are on a lot of medication (and you are supposed to take all medication in it's original box) you can call your airline. Some will allow you a second hand luggage bag (same weight limit as normal hand luggage), but it must only contain medication and nothing else. You must check with your airline, who if they allow this, will send you a confirmation email, and you also must carry this verification with you (although I was never asked for mine, but it would be Sods Law you would be asked, if you didn't have it).

Remember for your flight to take a nice cosy cushion/pillow for your bum, and a neck pillow for your neck.

And the main thing …….. Enjoy! xx

Yes, Allan gets extra hand luggage allowance for his cpap machine, so we usually use that bag for all our medications . X

I am also travelling to Florida this summer with the whole family and I’m having some anxiety about it. The flight over will definitely aggravate my sciatica and the waking around Disney and Universal in the heat will be difficult to put it mildly.

I have a small daughter who is beyond exited to go and I don’t want to spoil this. Ugh

I have traveled to Canada and always got a letter from my gp even though I was never asked. I think America will be different though

Hi GMTE

I will get a letter From my GP I just don’t trust just carry my perception and medication in it original boxes as for sitting in such cramped seats it’s worrisome my lower back and legs go numb while sitting to long also standing to long I just can’t walk I am in agony we aren’t off to Disney we did it years ago with my 3 daughters they had a wonderful time.

Your youngest daughter will love the magic kingdom we went in late February and March it was hot during the day with humidity and chilliest at night my daughter went to years ago in late august it’s was boiling hot I can’t cope with to much heat.

Thank you have a wonderful time big hugs 🤗 hel52

Should be able to take copy of your repeat slip and can call and ask for letter no need to see them. Some surgeries charge about £40 for certain letters. Maybe take some calms or similar to help with travel.

Good luck and enjoy

Hi, just a quick thing in case no one has mentioned it, i went to New York at Christmas. I let the cabin crew know I had a “condition” which made it difficult to get comfy. I asked if there were perhaps spare pillows I could use. (If they don’t know, how can they help.)The one I spoke to was happy to help. The extra pillows did help a little. Next time I go anywhere like that I may think about booking a wheelchair just for the airport as it’s a long walk from one end to the other....

anyway, have a fabulous time..

Yes. Get a letter from your health care provider Go to Florida and have a good time. I’m sure you will be fine. Let the airlines know your health condition so they can help you be as comfortable as possible. We all deserve to be happy and you just do the best you can and welcome to the USA 🙏🏽

Hi i have been to the states many times and take morphine has well has others and ive never been stopped or asked what the drugs were for because it never arose

I go and live in spain for 3 months in winter at home and for that i show my doctor the booking form and i get 3 months supply and never been questioned why dont you ring your doctor's and tell the receptionist were your going and ask her to ask the doctor for a letter and see what she says but im sure you will be ok x

Hel52 profile image

Hi Queenielot

I was going to call in and ask them tomorrow I don’t think anyone will question the medication I have but just in case for peace of mind it’s best to check I am one of those people who always gets my bags searched and swabs done for narcotics my hubby’s thinks it’s funny I never objected they need to practice it was Spain 2 years ago and a ferry port to France last year 6 years before that was Perth Australia I must look extremely suspicious 🤣😂

Thank you for the advice Helen 🤗🌸🌸
