I always have this too. I’ve had it checked out. No sinister cause. Part and parcel of the fibro for me. Sometimes I can hear it battering away - it’s ridiculous. Way worse when I am super stressed or panicking. And on the odd occasion that I am asleep when the alarm goes off, my heart pounds loud enough to hear on Mars. Ok, slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean and you’re not alone! Worth getting your GP to take a look though, just to be sure xx

Must be the firo and the fact we're always tired and in pain x

Look into POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) It can feel like panic attacks but it has a physical cause (but mostly doesn’t show up on ECG’s)

I hope you find the answers you need. If you recognise yourself into the symptoms ask for a tilt table test.

Is it dangerous ??? I'm just always aware of my pulse especially in my stomach ??!

in reply to

No it’s not dangerous. You just have episodes of high heart rate, especially when tired, standing or after meals. Doctors don’t test for it often enough as people with those symptoms get misdiagnosed with anxiety attack’s.

Just google it if you are interested.

I was referred to a cardiologist for POTS and the specialist said "oh yeah I don't believe in that" and gave me some spiel about extra heart beats etc... I had to undergo 24hr and 7day ecg and BP at home, was VERY uncomfortable for ne and I didn't get any sleep throughout between the BP cuff strangling me (you could literally tap my skin and it gives me agony at the best of times) & the sticky pad/metal things torturing me.

I regularly get alot of palpitations, especially if I've had certain foods.

It was my own GP who kept suggesting POTS, something about weeing alot as well as the heart thing??? I should probably get a 2nd opinion, the Cardiologist reminded me of a Dr at my GP surgery years ago who said "Oh Fibromyalgia doesn't exist, it's all in your head" to me (AFTER I'd had the diagnosis from a specialist!) I got up and walked out saying "well there's not much point in talking to you then" - back in the day I could manage to strop out of anywhere lol)

Ok thank u x

Sinus Tachycardia can be common in some people, It should always be checked out medically but mostly turns out to be nothing worrying. If you are having multiple episodes your GP might consider doing a 24 hour tape or even a longer version. Did you have an episode of the tachycardia captured on the ECG. xx

Hi Bobby Bob yeah all test normal doc just said it was anxiety bit o don't think it was it was just fast but regular I think it was because I was exchausted no more panic attacks as antidepressants stopped them getting to that stage thank god but I just alway hear it beating was never aware of it before fibro x

It can be quite common to be aware of your heart beat. If you have never noticed it before I wonder If the Fibro has made you more sensitive to sensation and sounds because it does that. Sometimes it sounds like someone has put the volume knob up to 10. xx

I totally agree that makes so much sense because even when I eat I hear my digestive system I hear my heart beat it's ever since I got attacked with the fibro id probably hear a pin drop in the sea 😄Have a good day thanks for reply x

Hi

I was had to have an ECG cos my pulse was 145 per minute!! Nurse said that was ok. I'm having bloods done on Monday because my thyroid meds were out up in December and my gastro consultant wants them all doing cos I have been feeling so rough. Onwards and upwards!! I'm sure you will be fine. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi zoonie wat drives me mad is docs don't tell you nothing they say well it could be it probably is I'm like if they only knew wat I go through in a day all these crazy sensations and pain thanks for reply so hearing ur heart is due to hyper sensitivity I'm understanding or I'm just a weirdo who hears my heart beat constantly 😩😀😀😀
