Hi I'm new to this group and don't know how to start I've been told I've got fibro in the last three weeks i turned 23 two weeks ago as well so i'm quite young. I'm really struggling to get my head around it atm and I'm also a single mum too a four year old, a full time student and work two days a week in a care home so im wondering if anyone has any tips or advise on how to manage it or cope with it.

thank you xx

I think it would be an idea to find a support group in your area, that would be a start. You could ask your GP to refer you for the Fibro course the NHS run also. You will get plenty of support here to.

healthunlocked.com/fibromya... Hello there and welcome, yes Fibro can strike at any age and I do have have so much empathy for you younger ones as mine started in my fifties, grab as much help from family or close friends if offered , so much for you to do and your body will need to rest as much as you can very hard with being a student, little one, and work, hats off to you for doing all this. Don’t ever feel quilty if it’s just a board game, book , children’s video for your little one sometimes to break up a day as pushing 24/7 could result in you having a Fibro flare and being laid up , so any help offered with the little one grab it with both hands , I hope family will be tuned into this condition and reading posts and having a chat helps you here, take care xx

Hi, I too was unwell at your age but actually went into a remission where I was predominantly well for over 20 years so don’t despair, it can be manageable and you can lead a normal life if you’re sensible! Much of the help for fibromyalgia isn’t handed to you or even volunteered and you do need to go out and find it. Some of the things that helped me include yoga massage using essential oils but of course all of these things cost. Something that I found very helpful is using magnesium salts in the bath and also working on getting a good sleep regime at night. Both things quite simple but quite effective. Read up on it lots! you’ll find a lot of the treatments are trial and error. Good luck xx
