Hermes123 Hi folks I have had an awful three months or more since being given a

Butec patch, this coming Monday after a three month wait I get to see a Consultant in regards to investigating and adjusting all my pain medication, my number one priority is to try and get rid of the butec patch, has any one else manage to do this and if so how did they cope afterwards, I would be very interested to know, at present I struggle to think, always tired, low energy, just all over the place. Thanks a lot Hermes.

If you’ve been using it for a while, you might ask to start reducing the dose prior to stopping it altogether. I do not use it myself however but wonder if it would be an idea to discuss it with your GP😊

Alba2 Thank you for your reply, fortunately only been on it three months, but you would not believe how much its turned my life upside down. I have been waiting to see a Consultant who is sorted out my medication, that will now be tomorrow! I just wanted to get views of others who might of come off patches. Thank you. Hermes.

I was on Butrans patches but had a positive experience with them once I'd got over the first months banging headache! I swapped directly onto oral Morphine eventually , but from my experience of reducing Morphine I'd say you need to come down slowly. Depends on what dose you are on. As you've only had it 3 months your withdrawal might not be as horrendous, but discuss it with your g.p. As an aside CBD Oil is working wonders for boosting my pain releif tho I still need ,much lower, doses of Morphine

Thanks for your reply, I am on the lowest dosage due to the fact I am on 18. pain killers a day, but tis is what I am seeing the Consultant for tomorrow to see what he can offer in respect to a change of drugs and looking at the latest available on the market. With my spine and all my joints gone I at least need to be able to think straight. I will be hoping for the best. Thanks a lot. Hermes.

Seriously once you've seen the consultant and been sorted out with your medicaiton have a search on here about CBD oil. I've been on it a year and I've managed to cut my Morphine by 2/3rds and stop my Pre gabilin and Pramipaxole (under G,P supervision of course). even of you dont end up cutting the pain meds its a fabulous booster to help the pain

Hazel_Angelstar Just retuned home after a very fruitful meeting with the pain advisory Consultant, a very good discussion prior to sorting out my medication, first to go was my Beutec patch! Then the Paracetamol stating I had been on them far to long and could damage my liver... I am already on Codydramol which contains paracetamol, we see how this helps then I return to see him in one months time to see how I am coping, felt very relieve It was somebody I could talk to and hold a good frank discussion with. Here's hoping for a months time. Hermes.

I didn't realise how bad I was on the patches until after I came off them. Loads of nasty side effects with very little actual benefit x
