Hi there I was diagnosed in January this year, and I thought I was doing OK with it, last night though the pain was so bad it kept me awake until 1am, does anyone else suffer with heart palpitations? how long do yours last for if so? Really starting to wonder how im going to cope once it gets worse :(

Hi there, it's nice to meet you and welcome you to the group :) sorry to hear how you are suffering. I have had fibro for about 35 years and i'm still here to tell the tale. May I ask why do you think it will get worse ? There are many people with fibro who have been lucky to have stayed the same or even gone in to remission. Having fibro is not a fore gone conclusion you will end up getting worse .

Everyone suffers with fibro in different ways. Some sadly do get worse but has we are all so different we should never think our symptoms will be has bad as the next persons. I have to say I am not medically trained to give advice. But based on how my own nerves react to worry I would say what your experiencing with the palpitations could very well be a panic or anxiety attack.

Has I said I am not medically trained so if your concerned or feel worse I would call 111 or the emergency services. We must never put everything down to fibro.

If I was giving me advice, I'd say this. Fibro is still not considered to be progressive. So don't go thinking any of your symptoms are permanent or going to be constant. It may be a blip or it may come and go. Don't get attached and fearful of your symptoms. Odd stuff, like palpitations, can come and go. Once you are checked over, you can just notice when it happens and forget about it. For most of us it is just a quirk so there's no need to fret. So it wakes you up sometimes? So what? Snuggle back down and go back back to sleep.

But always get new symptoms checked if they are bothering you. Fibros can still get heart disease, or infections, or cancer or anything!! We are human, just like everyone else. But usually, a new symptom is just going to be more fibro. Get checked, take the reassurance and stop fretting. Hope that helps.
