Hi all. I'm in real pain with my bladder. I have been tested and I don't have a water infection. I have had this severe burning before. Apparently it is due to Fibromyalgia. Any idea's how to get rid of the pain nothing is working.

It might be functional cystitis, wherevthe bladder becomes irritated without any infection being present.

The treatment is similar; drink lots of clear fluids, cranberry juice etc., take paracetamol for discomfort, and rest. A hot water bottle on your lower tummy or back may help.

This should resolve the problem within 48 hours.

If it gets worse or there is blood in your pee, then back to the GP for further investigations.

Hope you improve soon x

Hello, as fibromyalgia affects all our muscles, and the bladder is basically a big bag of muscle, then the bladder can be affected by interstitial cystitis. I get pain in my bladder most days, often it occurs after I have passed urine, and I also get sudden desperate urges to dash to the toilet. I also need to get up regularly during the night time. (I also get the same with my bowels, due to irritable bowel syndrome)

I try to make sure I drink plenty, go to the toilet regularly (I don't wait until I am desparate), and try to avoid things that stimulate the bladder (e.g. alcohol, caffeine)

Take care xxx

I get it sometimes and use Cystocalm bought from chemist. Calms it down.

I’ve found stopping all caffeine has helped me. My GP said caffeine is an irritant if you have a sensitive bladder.

Only just seen your message - i dont log on evry day now- we ladies have many of our "womens bits" close to our bladder, can I ask if you have felt constipated at all? that can press on the bladder.. ovaries and tubes also close by-any mucus loss or even blood? Really think your g.p should send you for a scan to rule out anything, I know I went thru a time of not drinking enough (it seems 2 litres a day isnt enough) and was told to use decaff coffee (I am a coffee addict) I must say I found bowel movement much easier when I did as i was told! But still get it checked out hun, your gp can feel anything suspect by examining your lower tum..
