PMR & diarrhea

Am reducing Pred steadily 1 unit a month.Now down to 6.No real probs.

Normally I have a very strong resistance to stomach/food probs.

Recently developed sustained stomach cramps and diarrhea.Is this the result of a weaked immune system?Should I look to increase my pred for now?

Unless you have Fibro as well

In PMR the steroids work to suppress the immune system as PMR is a Autoimmune illness .The idea is to stop it attaching our muscles and causing inflammation resulting in pain fatigue and stiffness .

Upset stomach could be a side effect of Steroids or it could just be you have picked up a bug .

At 6 it could also be your adrenals that need to start working again as above 7 thay dont produce much Cortisol as rely on the artificial dose .
