Tai Chi

Hi ya guys,

So I’ve tried lots of meds and non medicinal therapies for my fibro. Nothing ever seems to help.

My GP has suggested Tai Chi has some huge benefits in pain studies.

Does anyone do it? Does it help?

Thanks

Lisa :) xx

Hello Lisalush23 nice to meet you and welcome to the group :) I have not tried tai chi myself but have heard others say they found it quite helpful.

I see you have left your post unlocked. If you wish to leave it like it is fine. But most members are only happy to reply to a locked post. So if you would like to lock this or future posts this link will show you how.

It is crazy to think that there are so many people with this condition.

I’ve woken up today and I know I’ll be in bed most of the day :(

Yes I do it. You must be careful thst you find a class where Sun Style Tai Chi is taught. Sun Style is a form of Tai Chi for Health. There are lots of UTube videos with it on. Just type in Sun Style Tai Chi they will come up for you. It is very good and my. Fibromyalgia improved a lit as did my balance. I have weekly TCM acupuncture as well. I hope this helps.

Hi Lisa I teach Tiachi for Health in Bristol in the form of shibashi 1 & 2 It is very accessible and can be adapted so anyone can do it. It is a collection of 18 very slow movements and breathing exercises. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and Rhemathoid Arthritis and tried everything going to find something that helps. It has made a big difference to my life in terms of mood changes, relaxation and helping joint to be a little more mobile.

I was trained by a charity for over two years and passed with flying colours. The charity unfortunately has recently been disbanded. However if you would like to know more please contact me as I have some resources and information that may be useful to you.

There are various groups who trained with us all over the country. I have a list of where they are and when they meet.

Best thing I ever did

Take care

Hi Lisa

Yes. I have tried Tai Chi. As ebony4ivory states, it is imperative to find the right style of Tai Chi or Yoga as some my actually cause you more pain than relief.

I have also tried Qi Gong & Pilates. I tend to mix it all up & adapt & use excercises from all 3 to help me try to stay a little bit more flexible.

I also get some reflexology & reiki from friends.

I attended a workshop for people with arthritis & found some of those exercises quite useful too. I find this a more holistic approach.

I must say though, that I have just rediscovered movement by gentle dance,

& listening to music can only be uplifting. Very Chi 🙏🏾

I have had FMS for 27 years & been on too many Meds to recall.

I have CBD oil, & sometimes use Lidocaine patches..

As you are probably well aware. No one cure fits all, & like many on this forum, I have a multitude of ailments, & I'm just sick of being a quinea pig for 'Big Pharma'!!!

Have a boogie a day 🌺
