capita doing home visit for PIP

I suffer from fibro myalgia, and low grade lymphoma. recovering from cancer treatment both chemo and radiotherapy in 2015. i am having a official from capitia visied me to assess for PIP. what sort of questions will i be asked. i tried to be as honest as possible when completing the form and wrote about both bad and good days and that my condition varied but that i tend to push myself and exhaust myself on the better days then end up in bed for a few following due to pure exhaustion

Hi

Don't worry all questions will be biased on what you have put on form .

Thay will ask you some about your cognitive state .Normally will ask you to remember 3 words and then repeat then to you later ,ask you to spell a word given by them backwords and a simple sum .

Bad day have to be at least 4 days a week

will also ask you to do some excises just very easy like raising hands above your head bending forward and will test your arm strength

Good Luck

Hi, I found that they would ask me something and then further on would ask me the same thing a different way round to see if I gave the same answer!! I had been warned about this so was ready for it!!!! Good luck everyone . Love and hugs Lynne xxxc

Good luck Rose54 has given you a good outline. If possible have someone with you. It is good to have a copy of your paperwork to hand and ID etc as if you have to go searching for it it is a way of them observing you getting up and down etc. Don't let them rush you go at your own pace. Perhaps have a small piece of paper with just a few notes of anything you really want to emphasise. Let us know how you get on.x

Just relax the best you can. Don't talk about good days .tell how much help you need ie getting in bath or shower making a meal how safe are you cooking or does someone else do it for you. My hubby has to do everything for me I have breathing problems and osteoarthritis in my hands so cannot lift pans or plates. I have oxygen and they originally turned me downtime wevreaf the report and no mention that I have oxygen and the same going out. Told them to contact doctors and hospital and they changed everything and got full.pip..

Hi there - don't dress up for them, be as you are. When I had mine I came down in my PJs, I didn't give much eye contact and I was cold even though sun shining into the room! Mine was really nice but she still noted everything down so don't be taken in by their niceness. I passed anyway even though there were some areas I could have contested if I didn't have enough points. They are looking out for inconsistencies so if you put something on your form but your behaviour shows otherwise they will make a not of it and mark you down. They will also give you a physical test e.g. I had to press on her fingers and stand up and try and bend down. But you don;t have to do anything you're not comfortable with. If it hurts or makes you tired say so. Have any aids that you use to hand and any list of meds. Have someone with you. Remember the words, reliably, repeatedly, safely and in a timely fashion. If you can't do a task with these things in mind then it's as if you can't do it all. Don't answer questions 'yes but...' say 'I can't do this as often as I need to' or 'it hurts, makes me fatigued on most occasions' (those are just examples). I know it's a lot to remember but I found that I had to ask her to repeat questions which shows that I wasn't able to take it all in. Best wishes x
