Hi there and welcome , we have a web site fmauk.org to have a look through with lots of info, also coming on the forum gives you chance to read posts get lots of friendly advice and tips from our members , I joined nearly a year ago and I’ve found it so helpful to talk and share and made lovely friends. If you would like to lock your posts it normally generates more privacy as only our members can read and not open to the other site engines on the internet , healthunlocked.com/fibromya... my best piece of advice is take each day as it arrives , helps me cope with this condition and I don’t book too much in advance like I used to as it takes the pressure away when there is days we need to pace and rest at home xxx

Hi MerseaSam, welcome to the group. I think the best advice would be to find out as much as you can about the condition, try to get pain management and this site is a great place to make friends and get advice. Has the doctor given you any medication? 😀😀

I have nothing at all for pain but am being referred for hydrotherapy and will look at acupuncture but it's expensive. Otherwise I'm going to give a tens machine a go

My first bit of advice is spend time listening to your body; see what you can do, can't do, and what may be possible. Some days you will be able to do more than others, but these things you will find out as you go along.

One thing I will suggest is looking at The Spoon Theory, I thought it was total Woo Woo when I first read it, but it has come to make very good sense.

It is a long journey on the Fibro Train; you will learn slowly how to pace yourself, so as to spread the energy over the day or week. It is very tempting to 'go to town' when you are feeling good, but it isn't worth the aggro in the long run.

Each of us experiences Fibro in our own way; for some it is mainly in the upper body, for others in the lower body, or one sided. Many of us have digestive problems in addition, which can put a severe crimp in the lifestyle! For me, it is almost entirely below the waist, although as I get older (spit!) I am also getting arthritic changes in my hands and wrists, lessening the time I can spend on my craft work, Grrr!

Stairs are no longer an option; I am hoping to buy an adapted bungalow in Wales, as there isn't a snowball's chance in a furnace that I can afford one in Hampshire!

Welcome to the crazy world of the Fibromighty!

Cheers, Midori.
