Hello again can anyone tell me if everyone with fibromyalgia has a low vitamin D level I know it's caused through lack of sunlight but I just wondered if everyone with Fibromyalgia has it?
Vitamin D: Hello again can anyone tell... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Fibromyalgia Action UK
Most people in the uk will be low on vitd, fibro or not.
It's very common to find those who suffer with fibromyalgia have vitimin deficiency and vit D deficiency is one of those that seems to be mention most frequently. I have both and also have low folate levels so take folic acid. I find using both a supplement and a light box works most effectively. Hope that's helpful, I use a Philips golite blu as it's potable and programmable, I picked it up on eBay.
no correlation between vitamin d and fibro. Prevalence of fibro in spain, nigeria, and australia for example are just as high as the uk.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and CFS in 94 and never had vit.D deficiency until after I had thyroid cancer in 05 and had a total thyroidectomy. I was in my early 30’s when I was diagnosed so it may be but I was under the understanding that it had more to do with the thyroidectomy.
Hi for some reason a lot of people with ra and fib do seem to get this although they say there is no connection ?.bantam says everyone low.but not everyone gets the bad symptoms that's when it can become a problem and you need treatment and to make sure and avoid anaemia.
My vitd level was 12 which is severe deficiency but I didn't have any symptoms, i can't tolerate supplements so my level in the summer hovers around 30 which is still deficient.
I am no sure with numbers I should maybe ask more .it is good you have no symptoms though.you can get severe tips of fingers a d toe pain a d very bad fatuige and bone problems with the iron
Sorry for butting in on this conversation, but I’m wondering why Ajay575 says we need to avoid anaemia? Only reason I ask Ajay is because I’ve had iron deficiency problems going back to my childhood and was on infusion drip many times as my body couldn’t absorb the tablets. I was diagnosed fibromyalgia last year at the age of 53, is there a link?
Many thanks Tee x
Interestingly enough I’ve had anaemia most of my life too. Diagnosed with fibro 3 years ago.
Hi .no it was in low on vitamin the now bad .and gp has said if blood low next time she keeping me on treatment and not wanting or to make sure i do get get anaemia.and said I do not have that the now ?.and another doc said this as well .thats the only reason I know teedee.seemingly same with low iron and deffennitly with iron as well.i would have hoped they would have checked your blood and symtoms for this
Vitd deficiency doesn't cause anemia.
there is a condition vitamin d anemia
I just googled it and it does say it can cause this .4 or 5 things can and yes iron is top of list and vitamin no 3
Vitd doesn't cause anemia but it can be a consequence although not scientifically proved. Vitd does control calcium so anyone taking supplements must have calcium level tested as high calcium can be serious.
and if you are on Vit D & calcium combined medication .... you can end up with high calcium levels as a result (happened to me). so be careful too if you take a combined vit d/calcium supplement; especailly if over the counter and not prescribed x
Vitamin d is needed to help red blood cells and iron.we all have an opionion I only going wot docs says.and everyone got a veiw
10 years ago my gp decided to test my vitamin d levels.I laughed my head off as I am out in my garden at least 10 hours a day every day in the Summer so knew I was getting plenty of sunshine. I was shocked to discover my d levels were very low and have been on a supplement ever since. My doctor said that a lot of people with fibromyalgia just dont process vitamin d properly so yes there is a connection.
Yep I have it and now take Vitamin d capsules
I have low vitamin d the doc has given me tablets x
