Hi fellow sufferers, has anyone tried the alpha Stim, I have only just heard of it. It’s a lot of money but if it does what it says maybe worth it. Been suffering about 5 years now. Tried a lot of alternatives most work to start with then stop. I had large glass of red wine and half a Dizapan slept 4 hours last night with out waking. I think we spend our lives looking for a cure. Take care

Morning Frances

I bought one for support group use, but have to say that the majority who used it including myself didn't find it much benefit at all. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear but everyone is different so you never know I suppose!

Thank you for reply it’s to much money for it not to work. I had reservations any way.

Unless of course ours wasn't working right but we used everything and followed the instructions! I think it is difficult to see the wood between the trees with these things and sometimes if they claim to much it going back to the saying 'too good to be true'. I bought it to share amongst the support group in the of chance but usually to avoid disappointment I think seeing peer reviewed research on the treatments efficacy is best. Unless of course it's inexpensive then anything is worth a go!

Unfortunately with some chronic illnesses there seems to be (not this company) people who like to sell snake oil to vulnerable people searching desperately for a cure, so we must critically analyse any articles for any writer conflict of interest or if based on research and fully look into things.

Have you tried the prescribed cream Capsaicin? It's a very hot cream like a deep heat sensation but hotter as made from Capsicum peppers said to naturally reduce Substance P, a substance which is excitable to pain. According to Dr Clauw we have 3 times the amount than healthy people and so some find it helps.

If sensitive to medications this might not be for you and I would always say for a 24hr patch test first to check if OK and not too hot!! It might help as it helped me with the pain but careful with your eyes, plus rubbing off on to anyone else (children) if you decide to ask the GP for it to try :)

Hope this helps

Emma :)

I know on a Pain support site I used to regularly go on a few years back the manufacturers gave these to a group of people on there to try. Some it didn't help, some were helped slightly and a few it did seem to help. This seems the same with many things. My friend has found great relief with a tens machine and with some kinds of pain it has seemed to have taken the edge off for me but for other kinds it has actually made it worse. It is so difficult to know if it will help and it is expensive. Good luck if you decide to give it a try.x

I believe the company selling the alpha stim do a free trial. Look up the micro current site for more info. I have one of these machines, it helps me to relax but you do have to experiment with what setting and time is right for you. Its trial and error and of course not everything works for everyone. I wouldnt be without mine, I really notice the difference in my sleep if I dont use it for a few days.

Interesting it helps you sleep which will help the Fibro symptoms in directly...... as you say everything is trial and error! :)
