Today I had my first 3 hour session of pain management. 13 other people ( all female ) were there. Everyone has their own pain but the common factor is that we all have pain. I said that I would report back how sessions went. Main message that I got from today is that everyone’s pain is real. They believe that we all have and experience pain even if there is no medical explanation for it. Amputees who suffer pain in the leg that has been amputated have real pain. The brain is passing pain messages to and from where the leg had been before amputation. Therefore, the pain that we are all experiencing is all very real. Our brains are passing messages to and from the nerve endings. I probably haven’t explained this very well but I know that a lot of people in this site have been more or less told by a health professional that their pain is “ all in your head “ . Well I was told “ no brain, no pain” !
I wanted to laugh and suggest that maybe I need to have my brain removed . ( joking! )
