How do I help my brittle nails, with bad ridges and they're very dry too!!
Hi I suffered terribly with split nails and ridges I tried everything, and I tried ever nail strengthener going, until I tried this one, which was amazing, I don't know if I can put it in here so I've sent you a PM.😃
Thanks a lot, I tried nail strengthener too, but maybe not the best ones! Have a good rest of the week, hope the snow's not too bad where you are!!
Please can you PM me with the name of the nail strengthener you use.

Love & Hugs
Good morning Mydexter. Would you be kind enough to PM with the name of the nail strengthener that worked for you. Many thanks
Hi! Please let me know what has worked for you. My nails are suddenly TERRIBLE.. So dry & brittle, ridge too..
No what you mean cutebird mine are the same if I try and peal a label off its my nails that peal haha, have vertical ridges and one nail with two horizontal ridges, have never has such short nails makes it hard to pick things up. I use nail cream with olive oil or advocado oil.
Hi to you All,
This is just my personal opinion, but I have read and studied fibro for 35 years now. I too have ridges and dry nails for quite some time now. They, the experts say it all comes from the stomach - gluten intolerance which in turn creates leaky gut, bad stomach bacteria, irritable bowel syndrome and malabsorption of the food eaten. This in turn creates the nails being in a sad state and many other problems. I have had IBS for some years now and that is when my nails changed. We should be eating boiled apple to feed the good bacteria, fermented vegetable, farm yogurt, pre and probiotics etc - google it. Do I do that???? I am trying, but also forget when life happens. Keep up your spirits.
Well I suffer with stomach problems which I agree causes a lot of other problems in the body, but seeing as the nail. Product I used has cured my nails it can't be just that😃
Well I am pleased for you. I didn't even try products for the nails - even my toe nails are very hard, thick and ridgy. Maybe it has something to do with age - I am 67 years old - half my life with fibro sick!
Me too, so I put it on my toe nails and they grew too long so had to stop that lol,. don't worry I can give you three years, so it could be our age, the joys of getting older 😳👎 take care
My Mum used to say that age is a thief it robs you of everything and its very true, yes the joys of getting older what are they, they have slipped my mind haha
Yes my toenails are but have been for donkey's years got some tablets from the Dr but really don't want to get some more fed up with taking tablets makes you wonder how we ever manage to eat. Have spend a small fortune on some toenail stuff tried it for a year and it didn't make any difference, so its not just our age hun
Hi, I tried neat olive oil, didn't do much. Might try your suggestion. Never know nails to be so dry. Thought it might've been all the nail varnish I've used since I was 15!! Wondered how everyone's joints were in the snow? Thanks for your suggestions xx
Me too.Nails very dry and ridged.Tryed Almond Oil,helped a little but not great.x
Please can you send me PM with nail streathener that works
Me too please Mydexter. I'm using one that is good but don't know if it the one you have used which may be better. Seems you have a lot of messaging to do hun, sorry about that. Love and hugs. Anna xxx
Hi to you all again,
Please goggle Dr. David Perlmutter from the USA and you will understand IBS, leaky gut etc much better then my previous post.
I use one of those nail files with four sides You file out the ridges, buff the nail then shine the nail and voila, lovely looking nails which look like they have clear nail varnish on and silky smooth. Give it a try as it does work. Lasts a few weeks too. xx
I use a 4 sided nail buffer too! Helps a lot to improve the ridges. Not perfect, but they look much healthier with that shine! I also find pushing the cuticles back and keeping nails short, helps too.
Try coconut oil or olive oil on Nails to help with dryness.
How is your Vit D. Ridges can be a deficiency and supplements would help. I am taking a guess at D3 just because so many people are under.
I have next to no nails on my right hand now...the nail bed is exposed and in a poor state. I've tried umpteen remedies and my GP had no advice to add other than paint them!! That is a lumpy- bumpy mess!!
I am now working to improve my thyroid function and hoping that may help.
Have you had your nutrient levels checked? That may help but I'm afraid optimum levels made no difference in my case
Sorry to be so negative but it's a difficult one!
If you have any success please post the remedy "loud and clear"!!
A friend bought me a nail oil pen/brush from the Body Shop it has helped a lot, my nails aren’t breaking as often. Although they are still very ridged.
Me too. Ridges, little white marks, constantly breaking or peeling.
Yes and yes, plus itching dry skinhair falling out occasionally hot and cold, no sense of smell and a host of other things lol
a tribunal. I do not seem to be able to express how it is for me. Any advice please.
