Help with parking

I have recently been diagnosed fibromyalgia having suffered for many years with symptoms but didn't know what was wrong. I am married and don't work, my husband works so not in receipt of any benefits. I was wondering though as I have great difficulty with my feet/legs and walking to far along with back pain and all the flaming rest of this horrendous condition, can anyone advice about a blue badge for parking closer to any amenities I need to, or do you have to be in receipt of for example disability benefit. Would be most grateful for any information

My mum has arthritis and still works and has had a blue badge for the past 2 years. She just filled the form in and went for an assessment then the renewal she just filled the form in and received it through the post. Can you not claim pip even though your husband is working? Xx

Hi have you applied for PIP as you would be elegible as this is not means tested and you can apply whether your husband works and whether you work or not. If you get the higher rate for mobility you automatically are entitled to a blue badge. It can be a bit daunting filling in forms and having assessments but there is plenty of help. Have a look at Benefit and works website. If you decide not to do that or even if you do, in the meantime you can apply for a Blue Badge to your Local Council and they will tell you what criteria you need. Each council is different but if you go on the government website for Blue Badges it explains everything. Hope this is helpful. I am no expert but happy to share my experiences and knowledge with you. Please feel free to PM for any further spefic details. Take care M x

I dont receive any benefits and have a blue badge. It's worth applying - nothing ventured nothing gained. I had to attend a meeting with occupational therapist. We had a chat and she and I had a little stroll and two weeks later my badge arrived. We talked about mobility issues she asked how long it took to do a supermarket shop, whether I do it on my own, what aids if any I have at home. It wasn't a difficult interview/meeting. Good luck

It depends on your local council. I have one, which I received before applying for benefits, from Glasgow council.

Hi I have just been awarded my blue badge, I filled it in online as it will tell you if you eligible or not once you put all your symptoms in. Once filled in make sure you have a passport photo to send with it just wait up to 6 weeks, mine has taken 4 but was very pleased i finally have it as it will help tremendously.

I too have issues with my feet and legs with walking, hence that’s why I’m writing this at 3am as I’m in pain.

Good luck
