Hi, just signed up for this site. I was told some time ago I had polymyalgia and was prescribed prednisone, it helped but did not cure the problem. On returning to the doctor she diagnosed fibromyalgia and prescribed naproxen, this does help quite a bit, when I ran out of these I phoned for an appointment to no avail but they did reissue the prescription for me, I'm now coming to the end of these, firstly could anyone inform me if you can get these on repeat prescription? Do doctors only give you them for a short time? Or can you be on them years?
I do have other medical problems and have the meds for these on repeat prescription and have done for 3 years now.
Any advice would be helpful.

I'd put in a repeat prescription request ( I do mine online for eye drops as they're the only prescription med I have so far) If the dr wants to see prior to issuing the prescription they'll let you know. Allow time so you don't run out,
Hi Dee, I was on Naproxen for about 6mths and my GP did issue repeat prescriptions for that time. However after a review of my meds , I came off it as we agreed the long term risks outweighed the little good it was doing me. As Hidden says, your doctor should contact you if they have an issue with repeat prescriptions plus they should also discuss continued use with you at regular med reviews.

Hello Dee6 prednis are steroids they clear out the blood of toxins and impurities and help with healing, polymyalgia is an arthritic complaint and the naproxen are anti inflammatory pills, to take them regular you need to have omeprazole or similar to protect your stomach (they hammer your gutts and stomach lining) if they have been helping ( and they will help with poly as well) then make appt. and ask for repeat with omep as well. I wouldnt just down them regualarly I found if you take them until you feel better then stop when you need them again they will work, if you get a flare up whilst taking them thne you migth not be able to increase the dose.. hope that helps.
