You are not alone. I've got stuck in the bath before now. I have now installed grab handles everywhere just in case. The thought of having to be heaved out of the bath by a couple of firemen whilst wearing the birthday outfit horrified me! I can fall over my own shadow too so we have a match on that too!

Hi Dinkie not just me then I normally avoid bath if I'm home alone but was cold and in pain. Now in even colder but clean lol. It's just so embarrassing at my age to get stuck but I guess u just have to accept it and move on. I hope you had a merry Christmas xx

perhaps a shower in future! I too have to wait until someone is home but even then the other half would only be able to get help as he wouldn't be able to get me out on his own as he has his own problems! A right old couple we make. Ah the joys of getting older or rather feeling older!

I too have been stuck in the bath and it was a cold and painful experience. I was there for along time then I managed to get on my tummy where once again I found myself in another situation I hadn’t the strength to push myself up and I was in tears then finally the only thing left was to get on my knees Which again was very painful as I have a pin and plate in my (rt) knee my holding a bone graph which they took from my left hip but finally I did get out and guess what I didn’t need a towel lol. I haven’t had a bath since I now use a shower. I haven’t thought about it for a long time but I had to send this. xx

Yes I have had a hoist fitted by social services to give me the luxury of still being be able to bath independently and I keep my dignity xx

I try to avoid stairs and am careful where I step but it's. hard. Use a cane outdoors. I only shower...very difficult to get out of bath. We do have one grab bar which is part of the wall but I still can't pull myself out of bath. I'm so sorry you had trouble. Hubby has Parkinson's and fell in shower, not knowing why, and couldn't get up so our youngest son, 40, heard it so was able to pick him up. We're so glad he's with us but I think he'd rather not be and we truly understand, tho he has a totally independant life, works at night, sleeps during day, takes care of own meals and laundry, car, has own social life but If he moved out we'd certainly have more room...to do what? except just store things I guess. It is what it is. We're in our 70's which does not help.

I tend to get on all fours and pull up on the radiator but not good in the winter when it's on hot, live in a bungalow so don't have to worry about the stairs because I think I'd be tripping quite often I'm quite clumsy now so not sure if it's the fibro pain etc never used to be. Can you let someone know when you have a bath so if you don't appear after a certain time they come check on you just call at the door ??? Take care, don't know about you but prefer my bath anytime dont like showers much and the Epsom salts bath always a god send xx
