Extended release tramadol

Does anyone take ER Tramadol and if so, is it better than immediate release tramadol? Thanks.

In my personal opinion as I take it and have done for years is the answers is Yes!

Thank you for replying so quickly and Merry Christmas 🎄. I had a lovely family Christmas but suffering today. Pain sky high and sooo tired! I take 2x IR tramadol each day. Doc has given me ER and just a bit nervous about taking it so your reply really helps. I’m thinking of taking 100mg ER each morning? I hope that you are keeping relatively pain free and well. Xx

Not too bad today very tired...... unfortunately it wasn't the Christmas I had hoped as fella was ill in bed most of the day and I was feeling not too bad (that part was good as last year I was in bed all day). Maybe next year we'll all be well enough to enjoy the day! Little one loved it tho' so that's all that matters really!! I take 200mg twice a day as the Dr calculated this from the dose I was already taking of the regular tramadol. Your GP will help calculate yours too I expect.....hope you have a relaxing day

Glad that you were able to enjoy Christmas Day and of course, the little one. My 7 year old grandson was with us all day and said it was “best Xmas ever”! It’s amazing what we can do, even when our bodies are screaming. Hope you can get lots of rest today ( I’m being lazy ) and we can keep going. Think I’ll start on the 100mg and see how that goes. My gp just listens to me and goes with what I suggest! He’s nice but don’t think he knows what to suggest. Take care and I hope you have a good day. Xx

I know what you mean about GP's not knowing what to do, I think that is true on many occasions. Mine had the humility to admit that they hadn't read enough about Fibro to know and that I probably knew more - bit shocked but thought it was refreshing as we can work together rather than the GP throwing any old script at me! Thanks for that link, Emma - I didn’t know. Your GP sounds exactly like mine. He’s lively but admits that I probably know more about chronic pain than he does. I’m sorry that you suffer this horrible condition but it’s reassuring to know that I’m not alone. Fingers crossed 🤞 the ER tramadol will help. Thank you for all your support and help. Xx

Yes, I think it's better than ordinary Tramadol. I had been on the ordinary Tramadol, which wasn't doing a big lot, and my GP suggested the ER Tramadol, which has worked. x

Thanks . I’m going to give it a go. Been in real pain today and ordinary tramadol hasn’t touched the pain. What strength do you take? Hope you’ve had a reasonably good day. Xx

I take 100mg strength - 2 in the morning and 1 at night. I hope you find that they help xx

I was prescribed the ordinary 50mg of Tramadol but it wasn't helping with the pain. So I asked my GP if I could try the extended release Tramadol and he gave me Maxitram 100mg. They are so much better then ordinary Tramadol, so if you get the opportunity to try the ER I would advise you to try them. Good luck xx

Thank you. I have them at home as my GP prescribed them last time I saw him. I’ve just been nervous about taking them.. I really haven’t been well for a while - so fatigued and no appetite. I’m wondering if it’s the ordinary tramadol that is causing these symptoms. I think because of all the positive comments I will try the ER tramadol. I have taken slow release tramadol for a number of years I am on 200mg one in the morning and one at night without them I would be in so much pain

I am so fatigued just now that all I can do is crawl into couch. I sleep soundly all night! I’m scared it’s the tramadol that’s causing this symptom. Do you get any fatigue like symptoms? I took the ER yesterday and it did nothing for pain but I feel awful. Maybe nothing to do with tablet. Thank you for replying . I’m so miserable and exhausted and everyone’s support is so appreciated. Xx

If you have just started taking tramadol it will need time to get into your system I honestly could not manage without it I would be unable to walk and the pain would be unbearable try and carry on and give it time hope it helps you

I have tried extended release tramadol and it didn't work at all. The 50mg is the only one I can take and have taken it for over 20 years.
