Well that's a new one!!

I woke up in a lot of pain and took some paracetamol (all I can take on top of fentanyl patches). 15 minutes later I was throwing up with the pain.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Just about to phone my GP as I'm rather worried and have a 65 mile drive home from my consulting job which I'm struggling to hold down 😖

Did you take the paracetamol on an empty stomach ? I think that can cause vomiting.

I went through a phase ( that lasted a few years) of being sick every time I was in a lot of pain. I thought at the time my headaches were migraines--- now realise I've had fibro symptoms for several years.

I'd get it checked by the GP though, and I hope you're ok to drive home.

I regularly take paracetamol and gabapentin on an empty stomach. It doesn't normally make me sick.

I've spent virtually all day in Charing X hospital A&E because my local GP insisted I went to a walk-in centre. They sent me straight to hospital.

I'm ok. Just in a lot of pain. Apparently I need to stop working. But I can't.

We need to eat, have a roof over our heads, heating etc.

My partner had to leave work and take a train to London to collect me and drive my car home. The hospital didn't want me to drive due to the pain. 4 hours later...

I don’t think paracetamol causes sickeness on an empty stomach - it’s sounds like something else :( Hope your ok now though

As for your giving up work I know how you feel - it’s not easy when you have commitments and you are relied upon

But be careful not to overdo it too - is there any way you could compromise so you can still work but maybe not as many hours etc

I hate being stuck at home and would rather work but I’m also not very good at listening to my body etc and i collapsed in work in May and well that was a wake up call - I had to put me first and whilst I’m not working now I’m studying - so at least I’m keeping active :)

What do your family think? Have you spoken to them about it because they may surprise yoy

Hello FibroGirlUK. Yes, I tried FENTANYL Patches on recommendation from the hospital Pain Clinic. After 36 hours with similar symptoms I had to remove the patches. I felt really dreadful and was unable to get an email response from the Clinic. Google research will show you that it is a pretty volatile remedy and can produce nasty effects. I quickly (next day) reverted to my previous ZOMORPH - not a complete solution but relatively tame! Of course we all respond in different ways to these powerful drugs - mine for FIBROMYALGIA.

Are you seeing consultant? I wouldn't have thought that FENTANYL was right for your condition. If this was prescribed may I suggest that you get a second opinionWith find regards, HADES.

I’ve been on Fentanyl for a few months. This was apparently linked to exhaustion, and newly diagnosed chronic fatigue syndrome. I just worked too hard and hurt myself.

I’m my own worst enemy in this respect. I push myself beyond my current capabilities because I refuse to accept that I am unable to function as I used to.

I’m never going to accept it. I will always fight it. I just need to be a bit more sympathetic to my body.

I slept for 17 hours after that post. My body literally shut down. I then got put in an invidious situation last week where I ended up having to work for a colleague stuck abroad after a car crash. Now I’m properly in a mess and missed my meetings this week.

So stupid!
