I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 6 years ago but as I was expecting I was not treated and my symptoms seemed to disappear, they have come back and im in a lot of pain in all my joints and am particularly stiff in the mornings. I don't know a huge amount about the disease is this normal ,will it pass or should I go to dr?

Hi Odja,

Widespread pain and joint stiffness are hallmarks of fibro and many of us, including myself, suffer from these symptoms daily.

I think it is remarkable that you have not had any symptoms for six years! In medical terms if you do not have any symptoms for three years you are considered cured or no longer have the condition.

Have you been doing anything differently lately that may have brought this on. Or maybe it's being going n in the background but become worse so you feel it now?

I think a trip to your GP would be a good idea. They can discuss medication options or refer you to physio for an exercise plan to help with morning stiffness.

Thanks Patrick . Yes it's mad that I haven't had any symptoms. Haven't been doing anything too different apart from the usual racing around. Have been trying to rest more as I've been reading that this can cause flare ups but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be reversing the symptoms. I am reluctant to go to dr as I really don't want to go on meds.

I understand where your coming from. Perhaps look up a gentle stretching and exercise routine for the morning stiffness. Some mornings I feel absolutely awful and think rigor mortis has set in. I don't want to get up but I know heaving myself out of bed, flexing and stretching and just movement to bathrooom will help. For natural relief I use magnesium oil in a spray and caspian cream to rub in. My worst trigger point is two to three inches above knee where tendon joins muscle to bone. I also use a microwave bean bag which I place where is hurting most. Heat gives me great relief.

Good luck, we're all different, listen to your body and find what relieves the symptoms.😊
