Hi there does anyone know how you get a MRI privately done I live in Oxfordshire

Been referred to a neurologist but on a 6 week waiting list I've had a lot of pain in the last few months but that's died down it's all the other symptoms I'm worried about I feel like my body's been taken over by something my doctor thinks I have fibro because of all the symptoms I have but I'm not convinced I'm so worried 😢

Perhaps contact the secretary of the consultant you have been referred too and he will arrange it. Though they work for the NHS they will see you in a private capacity too.

Just google "private hospitals MRI Oxfordshire" and you'll find the location where available. Cost might be given on their website or just call and ask.

Your GP cannot refuse to refer you if you need a referral. I just self referred.

I rung a private hospital they said I have to still be referred by my doctor even though paying. My doctor has only just started to believe there's something wrong with me she said I was just highly anxious. As I've now been on setraline for over a month I'm definitely less worried about my body but nothing's changed aching a lot not getting the burning or stabbing pains anymore. But I have so many other little pains here and there and feel so hot all the time. As well I have rhitinus and Ive started itching like mad. I just want my old body back but I don't think it's going to happen I hope it is fibro! Can it affect your hormones

I understand how you feel. I thought life had been pretty rough for several years but didn't expect fibro to hit and make it worse.

Your GP can't refuse a referral to a private hospital and it's very straightforward. Tell the GP your hospital if choice ( with a doctors name if possible) then make the appointment. I think you can collect the referral letter and send/take it yourself but you'd have to check. I expect everything's done by email now.
