Hi to all,

I am a 57 year old female who is living her life suffering from chronic pain. I was diagnosed with neuropathy 2 years ego but went through every test you can imagine for the past 7 years without a solid diagnosis. My pain is so intense and I would like to get a few ideas on how to cope day by day. I also think I have Fibro. Happy to meet others who are in a similar

situation. Thanks.

Ann

Hey Ann,

So sorry to hear about everything that you are going through. Welcome to our wonderful family! Hopefully you will find all of the support and help that you need from here!

In terms of how I cope, a lot of it is through pacing, and trying to manage each day as it comes. I find hot baths with Epsom salts really help me on bad days, as long as someone is around to help me get in and out! Also I would advise either downloading something like Netflix onto a tablet (it's paid for but relatively cheap) or getting into reading etc. its a really effective way to help pass the time when you are having a bad spell. It doesn't make it beter but it helps to be distracted! Xxx

Can you take any meds?

I have recently been told about how magnesium us very helpful for people with neuropathic pain/restless leg syndrome. The best way for it to work is to add it to your bath water, soak for about 20-30 mins and you should see a marked improvement with a day or so. You should be able to qualify for it in prescription, depending where you live, but Holland and Barrett sell it ad with them either having a half price sale or penny sale on all the time, it shouldn't be too expensive I hope. I was very sceptical at first as normally only ever found a small amount of relief using medication. I am from Edinburgh and get a couple of huge pots for free every month and it makes such huge difference.

I also suffer badly with neuropathic pain and currently take 300mg pregabalin twice a day as well as 75mg amitriplyne at night too. These are quite high doses but I have build up to these levels over a number of years but do find them very helpful
