Hi I'm Tania I've had fibromyalgia now for 10 years. I take mst 60mg morning and night. I really struggle with the pain it's so excruciating. My GP wants to reduce my dose I'm very worried because I can't manage my pain with the dose I'm already taking . If they reduce my dose I don't know how il manage. Everyday is so painful I can't even leave the house it's a big problem taking over my life. Please have any of you got any ideas I could try. It would be very much appreciated thankyou for taking time to listen to me vent...

Hi Tj-72 Welcome to our wonderful forum 😀 I'm sure you will find it invaluable chatting to others who have similar experiences and at different stages of their lives with fibromyalgia.

I'm sorry your gp is wanting to reduce your mst, did he give you a reason ? Is he going to replace with another drug ? Have you ever been to a Pain Clinic & are you on any other medications ?

Please do go check out the mother site fmauk.org where you will find lots of useful information and links on fibro.

It's a good idea to lock your posts to the community so they are not accessible from the internet. If you look to right of screen you will see under "Pinned Posts" a number of blue links & instructions on how to lock it.

Awe thanx Hidden bless you 😉 of course you can ask, well first, Fibromyalgia of course, IBS, then Polymyalgia, Osteoarthritis and degenerative nerve damage in my back & feet, which is probably where my worse pain comes from I think. Medication wise, I take Pregablin, Quinuine Sulphate, Amitriptyline, Omeprazole and I have the slow release buprenorphine pain patches. To be honest Erny, I still get pain & cramp & all the other horrid symptoms but the meds all keep it under control and take the edge of things but I still have moments of unbearable pain. I practice yoga and meditation which help me a lot & like a lot of us, have heat pads & lots of pillows & cushions, I think I spend haf my life trying to get comfortable and the other half looking for things I've put somewhere, usually never to be found again lol. How are you my friend ? I hope your keeping well.

😉😙👀💞

Your welcome my friend ☺ Amitriptyline are very good and widely prescribed for Fibro symptoms. They relax you, so this helps muscle spasms, which causes a lot of pain, they also help you to relax at night, so therefore help you stay asleep when you do get to sleep. A lot of people confuse them with sleeping tablets but they don't make you sleep, they just relax you to help you sleep. They are also an antidepressant which helps your mood because people with chronic pain conditions, understandably can get quite irritable and quite depressed. I have taken them for many years and think they are very good. They don't suit everyone and they don't always mix with some medications. Doctors norm ally start you on a low dose of 20 or even 10mg to see how you get on with them & if they help, they will increase them slowly until they are helping with your symptoms.

The best thing to do, is talk to your gp about them and see what they think about you trying them.I have a gel called Movelat which helps also.

Hope your having a good day

Try Kratom. Herb. Legal where i live. Helps pain and super energy

I was on 8 30 mg morphine a day. Dont take any pain meds now as hurt with or without them.

Hell of a ride getting off morphine too. Kratom takes withdrawal away

Hi Tania,

Some great advic from Jan already. I'm on 40 MST twice a day and have tramadol and co codymol to use every four hours as necessary. I also have oramorph for break through pain, I don't know what I'd do without it.

At this stage it seems your Dr is only talking about it or floating it past you to see your reaction. Stick to your guns nothing's changed so why reduce pain Meds? What is his reasoning for this? Another drug on offer.

Asking to be referred to a pain clinic at the local hospital is your right and GP cannot refuse. Be aware they can try and reduce Meds as well! There seems to be a push from the cen for doctors to stop using so many strong pain relievers even where necessary. Cynical me thinks financial savings? Most of us at this level of pain are on free prescriptions.

I often find putting things in writing so that they get held on file illicit a different response. Perhaps a letter voicing your concerns, continuing levels of pain and an explNTion why pIn Meds are thinking of being reduced May get you some answers. Just an idea.
