Amitriptyline and fluxotine

Hi guys.

I've just recently in the last 3 week been put on amitriptyline for my pain. I was taking fluxotine for my depression.

I have been tired non stop and really larfargic (dont know if I've spelt it right)

I have a 19 month old son there is no time for me to feel tired as I can't get washing done or even look after my son like I should.

Do you think it's another trip to the doctors to find another route?

Thank you

Hi, I'm on amitriptyline and I think it has side effect of fatigue. I feel constantly tired but I'm not sure if it is the meds or the fibro as it is a big part of fibro. I hate that too, as I can't run a normal life. The only advice I have is to pace yourself. I have just been out for an hour or so but now I've flopped in a chair.

Take care

David

Thank you David. Does the amitriptyline work for your pain? I'm finding I feel the same as to when they gave it to me. Does it take a while to kick in? Obviously I want to give it chance. Just nothings getting done at home (it hardly did anyway) and I'm a zombie most of the time.

Hi Ann Marie, I think the amitriptyline must be helping to reduce the pain as that is not to bad but I still have a dull ache all over at the moment. Still haven't moved from the chair but going in the garden soon.

Hi Annmurry

I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and it does contain a sedative component. There is an alternative to Amitriptyline that you could discuss with your doctor, and this is called Nortriptyline. It is near enough the same drug but without the sedative component.

I have pasted you a link below to a pdf booklet by the Isle Of Wight NHS Trust on the two medications.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
