I think this happens when our arms are in a fixed position for a length of time and we only use our thumbs or fingers.

It is the equivalent of sitting on the floor and getting up with heavy legs and pins and needles.

Put your device down from time to time and move your arms and hands about for a few minutes. This should help.

Hi Mustangmo welcome to our wonderful forum ☺ I'm sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you, talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro and learning from their experiences.

It does help with the whole process and I wish I had found the site years ago. I have had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs and I'm still learning about it, like we all are.

I'm sorry you are having problems with your arms. I'm afraid that anything that you do that, is in anyway repetitive usually ends in one way. Pain, pins n needles, a numb feeling & even feel heavy to move. I know holding your iPad isn't what you would call repetative strain but you are probably holding it for to long. I get exactly the same thing & i have to support my arms with pillows & then I have another beany bag cushion that my tablet sits on, on my lap & this does help but, I could then get pain in my neck & shoulders, so i know how difficult it is. Hope this helps my friend.

Please do go look at the mother site where you will find all the information you need and lots of useful links on Fibro and I look forward to chatting to you on the forum.

This happens to me too. Sometimes I can't even hold the IPad at all due to fatigue. We are a pretty odd lot. X

Hi hun- yes I do, I know what is causing it- I have a tennis elbow and when I have my arm bent for a while the numbness kicks in, I also have calcium crystal deposits in the other arm/shoulder, Ive got a mouse mat with a wrist support, and I bought a device for tennis elbow today, you wear it near the bone and it gently traps the nerves that cause the pain,. I struggle to use Ipad and tablet that need to be hand held, I cant lay it flat either as my neck then starts to tell me the muscles are tightening so good old pc I do believe there is a device for having these other devices on a table, anyone got one? Whats it called??

Thank you, I have my P/Pad in a cover that turns into a stand, I lay in bed ( really sit up ) and use it on my tummy which also holds my cat

Hi Mustangmo my arms drive me to despair when I go to bed, as I try go to sleep I have what I feel must be an equivalent of RLS...if that even exists, they initially feel really heavy, which then goes to what I can only describe as pins and needles....but the feeling afterwards....it disturbs me (and the OH's) sleeping almost every night, as the only way I can relive it is shaking them in the air, stretching my fingers as wide as they can go or by sitting upright.....oh the joys, on a positive note though I have had my meds reviewed and after many years of refusing to give Pregabaling ago (fear of increased weight...fibro has already led me down this path) I have succomb and thought hey, ho time to give it a go....and so far so good :-) wishing you all a peaceful day and sending healing hugs your way ♡☆

Hi Mustangmo

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read about the issues that you are experiencing with your arms and hands, and it could be Fibro related? However, with an new or persistent symptom is always best to have it checked out just to get other medical conditions ruled out of the equation.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Absolutely - one of the first symptoms for me. I had surgery for what the doctor told me was carpal tunnel it wasn't and after the surgery the problem continued. Just one of those things that fibro throws at us from time to time. Blooming annoying isn't it.
