Hello I'm new to this site, but I am very eager to know others who may unfortunately be experiencing what I am, pertaining to Diagnosed Fibromyalsia and other things associated with it and possibly not. Any advice you can give me on what helps them get thru, cope or even cure these ailments will be so appreciated. I will be happy to share all that I have learned to others as well and maybe compare experiences etc. So thank you in advance for any help u can give!

Hello Kendra1234

Welcome to the forum :)

If you take a look at our mother site you will find lots of information about Fibromyalgia which may help you fmauk.org

Everyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia has different amounts of pain and fatigue.

I have had Fibromyalgia and ME for 36 years. The way I cope is with some strong medication for my constant pain, keeping moving around to stop seizing up and gentle stretching.

The thing with Fibro is that because everyone suffers in a different way, different regimes help for them.

Unfortunately there is no cure for Fibro and most of the symptoms. It is just a case of working out what you need for your symptoms as we all suffer with different ones.

Is there anything particular that you wanted help with?

It is a good idea to get into the habit of locking your posts so that it stays within our forum and so do all the replies.

Here is a simple to follow guide on how to do this:

Once again a very warm welcome and I look forward to chatting to you again.

Hello to all, and thank you for all your responses. I have read so much about this that sometimes I feel my eyeballs are ready to fall out lol, but I hav'nt been to the site you advised yet. I'm looking forward to tho! Oh gosh where to start... Well I was diagnosed with the possibility of fibro back in 2009 after a severe job injury fall by a patient who landed directly on top of me while she was bathing causing me a torn meniscus, 3 herniated discs and my tailbone was messed up pretty bad. I was also in a Big Uhaul accident a few years prior that initially knocked me around pretty good. It wasn't until a few years ago that the "Official" diagnosis was actually given to me, because I had to go to the Doctor multiple times for what seemed like multiple reasons for this and that, and then the need to try what seemed like every medication possible. Ultimately this seemed to be the most logical explanation of what I feel is such a horrible way to live. First I need to tell you that I love life, nature, and just the idea of what it is to really live adventurously... I'm sorry to be so long but I will explain myself just a lil... I'm 42 and I'm a wife of 20 years and a mother of 4 wonderful young men! I grew up outdoors, quads mini bikes, boating, camping u name it... I also played softball and I was a very flexible some what gymnast, nothing professional but I loved the bars,( gym bars) that is lol. (sounds kinda like a dating comercial right) So when my life started coming to what now feels like a complete pause I will say, because it only stops when we die right and depending on your belief not really, but this Is when I became severely depressed. Slowly I Began deteriorating on pain meds, gained so much weight, and then lost all interest and desire for just about everything I love and loved my whole life, from great flexible sex with my husband, ooh la la those days (sorry reminiscing) to just going to the movies. I'm sorry to put it in such a funny and or goofy disorderly fashion, because I dont see anything funny about this disease, but I think most get the idea and you probably have experienced similar issues so what do we have left If not our sense of humor. I now am in the stage of not getting out of bed for days, I have stopped doing just about everything because of everything from severe pain, and or stiffness, to just plain forgetting what I was guna do from one room to the next. For me this is so hard because I'm so ready for grandbabies and I love to just be out there and play and such so much.. I'm an outgoing person who will help anybody and everybody happily, I'm told I'm very pretty, that I definately don't look my age, that I have a great laugh and a nice smile in which I always wanted to stay positive, however now Im afraid to report that these blessings I had have some what disappeared and for the sake of not sounding to vein in which I have always tried to be humble, I want it back and in a hurry, but the mood swings have taken over, the long beautiful hair is falling out, and my big doe brown flashlight eyes have bags bigger than Kim Kardashians booty anymore! (sorry Ms. Kim) I'm in so much fear of losing it all before my actual time. I'm so miserable about the way I feel. I'm scared of each waking mornings im grateful im awake but still afraid of what pain i will feel today and in what part of my body.I'm definitely not living the life I should because I feel I'm not living my life at all! I have always had a lil bit of issues my whole life with OCD and ADD, yes I'm somewhat of a clean freak lol and an organization freak and it feels hella worse now because with having those issues on top of this one... well you can only imagine! I'm going nuts lol the mind is telling me you have to do this and that, and my bodies telling me nope! no way not doing it you cant move if even if you want to! I know I may sound a lil crazy but this is actually how I feel perceived by people who hear me and see me! I'm now trying all these home remedies because I have almost a year off Norcs thanks to the good Lord, boy talk about dependence on something so bad that actually does nothing but mess up ur mind, thanx pharmacy corps for that absolutely worthless addictive drug. Ive done the Gabapentin, lyrica, cymbalta, yes I know... it was ridiculous nut how much medicines i was given. haha at one time I had my own mini pharmacy, but joking aside it was embarrassing. At this point I'm on turmeric, baking soda, apple cider vinegar lol yes a cooking pharmacy now... and multi vitamins and such, but... oh yea and coco oil u name it... I should put stock in Google for the amount of searching I do... looking up what to do and what not to do. But unfortunately at the end of the day it's just me, my pain, my misery, my bed, my shame, and my longing to just feel normal even half way so I can go for a nice walk without my feet hurting so DAM bad! I mean they literally scream "Get off me" I mean i know im chubby but come on lol... I'm sorry so explicit and long but I wanna live pain free, and im willing to try anything I can at this point with a definate kick in the ass, cuz that's what it seems to take now! So when I said I would share lol there it is in a nutshell. So far the Turmeric seems the best, but I know it takes time consistency and the right product. Im told it must contain a minimum of 500 mgs or more, 95% of Curcumin, and at least 10% black pepper or biperine is what I think its actually called...forgive me if im wrong, but this is in order to be more digestible or sustainable. I just started so I will let you know once I put in the time. Anyway thanx for reading, and again thanx for any and all help, and just for simply responding. Sometimes just knowING that unfortunately others exist with the same ailments as me, really helps in comparing and talking about it! Have a good night! Also for those with far more severe illnesses I'm sincerely sorry im complaining, my heart hurts so bad for you suffering, and I pray for All who do, whatever it may be! Thanx for reading!

Hi welcome Kendra I think your post is most interesting, I have not tried any meds except what the doctor has given me, but this is funny my dog had sprained its leg and he was left with soft tissue damage, after telling this story to my old neighbour he told me the best thing for sore swollen tissue was to sprinkle turmeric over the dogs food , well I thought won't do any harm , five days later dogs back to normal, I mentioned this to the vet and he said turmeric was for inflammation hope it works for you soon

I love hearing about success stories or hopeful endings/beginnings rather! I'm so excited to finally talk with people who don't look at me like a hypochondriac! Hello Kendra1234 and a warm welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find help, advice, support and understanding.

Diagnosing fibro can take a very long time, some members waited years. This is because it mimics so many other conditions, which have to be eliminated through blood tests, xrays, scans etc. Fibro tends to be the "default" illness when all other tests have proved negative.

I do hope you will investigate the foum as well as the site, Related Posts, to the right of your post will tell of the experiences of other members, as does Topics at the bottom of the page on the right. Alternatively, the search box is a good start for information. You may come across posts which are several years old but still relevant today.

Unfortunately fibro cannot be cured but symptoms can be made easier through medication, natural therapies and more.

Hope to see you around the forum, weekends can be a little quiet so please don't let that put you off.
