Prescription help for fibro/cfs anxiety disorder,

I've been trying to find out if there is now free prescriptions for fibromyalgia,I can only find posts from four years ago when it looked like there was nt. I'm newly diagnosed with it, however I've suffered from a symtom of fibro for 10 years(costochondrtis and depression/anxiety. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome. 💝

Unfortunately in England there isn't. My husband had one because he was Epileptic and at the time was only on 4 tablets a day and I was on about 19 doesn't seem fair. I used to buy a Prescription Prepayment Certificate.

A three month PPC costs £29.10 and could save you money if you need more than three prescribed items in three months

A 12 month PPC costs £104.00 and could save you money if you need more than 12 prescribed items in a year

How much can I save?

If you need two items each month you can save over £95 with a 12 month PPC

If you need three items each month you can save over £195 with a 12 month PPC

If you need four items each month you can save over £295 with a 12 month PPC

Just a thought as prescriptions are so eepensive

There is also the Low Income Schome

Anyone can apply as long as they don't have savings or investments over a certain limit. You can't get help if you or your partner (or both) have more than:

£16,000 in savings, investments or property (not including the place where you live)

£23,250 in savings, investments or property if you live permanently in a care home (£24,000 if you live in Wales)

Who doesn't need to apply

You don't need to apply if you or your partner are named on, or entitled to an NHS Tax Credit Certificate or get:

Income Support

Universal Credit (in some circumstances)

Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

Pension Credit Guarantee Credit

You're already entitled to full help with health costs.

I live in Scotland where the prescriptions are free but I used to buy the yearly script which worked out a lot less than having today for every prescription so you should consider that option or you can pay monthly.

Hi Gail,

You need to speak to your GP as depending on them and their help you can get onto a valid medical exemption card.

I have been extremely lucky with my GP and I have had a medication exemption card for nearly a year now. I also have just been accepted for my blue badge and it's made things easier

I know a prescription costs a lot, especially when you are on a low income but not entitled to benefits.

I was "fortunate" if that is the word, to get free prescriptions due to having a thyroid disorder.
