My name is Stef I was diagnosed with fibro and small nerve fibre neuropathy about 4 yrs ago. I have always worked full-time but now I'm unable to work, I hardly go out and I suffer every day, some days worse than others. I have joined groups in the past but I always seem to be alot worse than other people which leads me to think I might be misdiagnosed.

I'm currently taking 60mg slow release morphine capsules twice a day, 2 x 50mg tramadol 4 times a day, 60mg duloxotine twice a day and 500mg morphine sulphate liquid as when needed.

And 30mg amitriptyline at night to help me sleep.

I came off pregabalin as it makes you put on weight and messes with you a little however good for nerve pain.

My health is getting worse I feel fatigued and flu like all the time with constant pain on top arrrrrrrrrhhhhhhh

Can anyone help me as I'm running out of ideas and surely all these meds are effecting my body as it has been 4 yrs on these doses.

Hello Stefan74 and a warm welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find understanding, help, advice and support. Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org ?

Here you will find a wealth of information including guides and links.

The medications you are on certainly are the usual ones prescribed for fibro but if you find you are getting little relief it may be a good idea to see your doctor. He may suggest something different or tweak the meds you already have.

It may be prudent to ask for a referral to a rheumatologist who will be able to carry out further tests if you feel you have a misdiagnosis. I suggest you ask for a referral to a Pain Clinic too as they could show you coping mechanisms.

Have you googled "The Spoon Theory"? It is a useful way of learning about pacing, although even we Admin can forget with the best of them!!

I know you are in pain but try to get outside for 30 mins or so, even if it is only to sit in a sheltered spot and watch the world go by. Not only will the fresh air help, you will be reconnecting with other people which may help your mood a little.

I do hope you find some relief very soon.

Kay

Hi kay,

Thanks for your nice message.

I'll look forward to having a gander at your mother site tmrw.

Yes I know the spoon theory very well and it makes perfect sense but it's hard not to over do it when you feel a little better or not quite so tired.

I've seen pain management for a couple of years now and they say I'm not physically able to do there week long course. Altho I forgot to mention I've had physio, acupuncture and 2 lidocaine infusions over a period of 2 yrs. I think the lidocaine helps but you need them alot more frequently to work properly but NHS has limited resources.

Yes I've seen a rheumatologist and he said definitely fibro and I currently see a Neurologist and he believes most of the pain comes from small nerve fibres but its the same treatment as fibro. I do find myself lonely as you become more and more detached from friends and people in general.

Good news I have a shitzu called shellby and I try to walk her most days however short it maybe. She helps me through the bad days and is always happy.

Thanks again kay :)

Hello Stefan Well what kind of doctor would prescribe all those drugs at the same time how do you keep awake? Morpheme and Tramodol at the same time Tramodol is morpheme based anyway and all those other drugs I'm sorry I find that incredible that you can take all that strong medication , Iv had Fibromygia for a long time and I'm on pretty strong medication but I think if I took what you are saying I would be out the game all day and night Best of luck any way

Thanks Erny,

I think I'm hardcore, only joking. I believe your tolerance increases over time and yes the pain clinic is trying to cut me down however I'm afraid as I get some relief and as I've been on these meds for a few yrs now I'll be physically addicted now. Anyway thanks for your message and hope life is treating you well and your in little to no pain too.

Hi Stefan74

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read of how you are feeling. I am wondering if you are experiencing drug contradictions? I have pasted you some excerpts from *Drugs.Com

*CONTRAINDICATIONS

Morphine Sulfate Extended-Release Capsules are contraindicated in patients with:

Significant respiratory depression

Acute or severe bronchial asthma in an unmonitored setting or in the absence of resuscitative equipment

Concurrent use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or use of MAOIs within the last 14 days.

Known or suspected gastrointestinal obstruction, including paralytic ileus

Hypersensitivity (e.g., anaphylaxis) to morphine.

*MAO inhibitors

Include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and others. After you stop taking Cymbalta, you must wait at least 5 days before you start taking an MAOI. Some young people have thoughts about suicide when first taking an antidepressant.

*What is Cymbalta?

Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SSNRI). The way duloxetine works is still not fully understood. It is thought to positively affect communication between nerve cells in the central nervous system and/or restore chemical balance in the brain.

Ask your doctor before taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for pain, arthritis, fever, or swelling. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam, and others. Using an NSAID with Cymbalta may cause you to bruise or bleed easily.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I hope you haven't got underactive thyroid, as there are many meds you can't take like me x wish u all the luck love 😻🐾
