Any meds that don't cause weight gain?

Hi all, hope your Sunday has started well. I have tried gabapentin, amitriptyline and pregabalin, but all made me so hungry I put on considerable amounts of weight. Co-Codamol doesn't do that, but can be addictive, so not allowed to take it every day. I heard that in the USA some people use meds like Adderal, with great results. Has anybody here tried it, or who could I contact if I wanted to try? I hope you all have at least a reasonably pain-free day! Hugs

It does feel as though all pain killing medication causes weight gain doesn't it?

Why don't you make an appointment to see your GP to discuss some other options that you could try.

I personally really do not like "recommending" meds because what works really well for one person can be another's poison.

I have never heard of the medication called Adderal. If it is not passed by the FDA for use in the UK, you wouldn't legally be able to get hold of it.

Hi there sherrisix I see this is only your 2nd post & i would just like to begin by welcoming you to the forum and its nice to meet you.

I wonder if you have been on the mother site fmauk.org This is where you will find lots if useful info3 and links on Fibromyalgia.

m sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you, talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro and learning from their experiences.

It does help with the whole process and I wish I had found the site years ago. I have had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs and I'm still learning about it, like we all are.

The drug Addral is normally used for ADHD and believe it or not contains amphetamine, so i can't see the reason anyone would take this medication if they have sleep problems, I think they may give to people with sleep apnea too. Anyway as BlueMermaid3 says, it's not easily assessable here, apart from private clinics etc. I don't think GPS prescribe it as far as I know. It's a very addictive drug.
