I suffer really bad around the neck, shoulders and under the shoulders my hips, base of spine, right leg and both arms a d hands. In fact all over my body at some time or another. I am on medication. The problem niw is i am attending physio which seems pointless as they say stand up and walk around if in pain sitting down and so on. What can i do

Hi there

Like you I suffer with constant severe pain and am on a cocktail of meds, but unfortunately all they do is to take the edge off the pain.

I'm really sorry, but I don't quite understand your question.

Are you saying that your physio is expecting you to be able to do things that you are not able to do?

Have you ever tried getting a massage? I used to hurt like you describe and I would get deep neuromuscular massages and it really helped. I had a lot of burning tight trigger points in many of the places you mentioned, especially the neck, shoulders and back, and the massage would release these knots of pain and that relaxed the affected muscles. To keep the benefits of the massage, I would have to clear the rest of my day to try to relax and not be busy doing things or I'd just tense up and re-trigger all of my muscles to tighten up again. And at least I would break the sequence of muscles tightening and pulling my spine this way and that by starting fresh again the next morning.

After many massages I learned how to help myself from answers to questions I had asked and absorbing what my masseuse was doing and how the pain would ease. Then I could push my hurting back or neck or whatever against the door frame at home and carefully put the right amount of pressure on the sore area and ease my own pain. I let the pain guide me. My masseuse said her dad and other patients did the same thing. How wonderful to ease your own pain as needed! Of course you'd only do this very carefully and gently.

You may want to try a deep neuromuscular massage but be prepared that any insurance probably won't pay the whole cost.

Hi Finmc , I notice this is your first post so I would like to welcome you to our friendly fibro forum where you can find help, advice, understanding, and support.

Have you seen our Mother Site fmauk.org ? Here you will find useful things about fibro including guides and links.

I am sorry to hear your physio appointments are not going well. Unfortunately it can be a tick box exercise in which you have to go through it and if it has not helped you, you will then be referred back to your doctor who will be start to carry out other tests.

I hope your pain will ease soon,

Kay

Hi Finmc

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I was wondering if you could talk openly to your physio about their demeaning mannerisms? It could be that they do not realise they are doing this? If not, it may be best to ask your doctor to refer you to a different physio?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
