Garbpentin

I take this twice a day. I suffer terrible head pain, stabbing pains, burning pains in my head. Please tell me that it gets better, mum or 3 young children and suffering really bad only been taking it for a week so far

Hello Hoot.....Sorry you are in so much pain......What other meds do you take? Is your GP aware of your suffering as I am sure he can help with some relief especially as you have 3 young children to care for. I have never had your symptoms in my head but seems as though you should see your doctor as you cannot carry on like this......Please let me know how you are and I wish you a better 2017.....Gentle hugs xxx

I've been a total of 12 times they just fob me off some days it's unbearable on top of everything else it's the last thing I need :/ hope you have a good new year x

Could you look at the leaflet inside the box of gabapentin and see if it says you might get these side effects? If you don't find it then see g.p , these pills do not suit everyone.. Good Luck, if you can try and havnt already tried ask if you can have Tramadol and Paracetamol for your pain,I find conventional pain relief much better than alternatives.

I was put on the medication for the pain but after a week it doesn't seem to be making a difference at all. Maybe back to the gp

Gabapentin is a slowly accumulating medication. It unfortunately does not work straight away. I had similarly head pain years ago but with codeine. I was told not to take codeine and haven't for 10 years or so now. That doesn't mean this is what you have but I would try to be more assertive with GP, can you go with anyone? Pregabalin is the cousin drug of gabapentin and has less side effects for some people as it is better formulated so more active and you tend to be on lower doses. Just an idea.

They wouldn't help as I hadn't long given birth and the medication can cause drowsiness I was told to try not to stress and relax which is easier said than done. I eventually sat crying my eyes out in the GP before they gave me something.

Hiya, I was given gabapentin for relief of migraine. I take 4 a day and the pains in my head have definitely decreased, though the frequency has not. I cannot remember how long if took for them to work as it was over a year ago but it definitely helps. Most drugs average about 3 weeks to see results. good luck it must be a nightmare coping with young children and this pain, I really feel for you.

So sorry that you are in so much pain,can't imagine what it is like trying to bring up three young children and cope with that. I am on the sister drug Pregablin and if I remember rightly it was about a month before it really started to take the top edge off the burning, shooting pains but I did feel some improvement after about two weeks. Fingers crossed that it will suddenly kick in for you x

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read this and I would go back yet again, and tell them that you are not happy or willing to accept this situation, and ascertain if there is anything that they can do until the Gabapentin starts to work for you? However, it can take up to 4 weeks for drugs such as Gabapentin to work, and they may not help you until such a time?

My youngest is 12 weeks they think giving birth has set it off which is no help to me really lol. Some days it's manageable most it's a real struggle. Thank you for the replies think another trip to my GP is called for even just to get stronger painkillers. Hope you all have a fantastic 2017
