Hi to all my fibro friends . I truly hope that your having a lovely Christmas. I recently had an appointment with the pain management team . I found the doctor to be very nice and also very helpful . The doctor has given me new Meds to take on top of my usual Meds . My new tablets are tapentanol 50mg twice daily . Now these drugs are classed as a controlled drug ,same as tramadol . I just wondered if any of you guys have been given these . I am still to take 85 amitriptyline plus tramadol and sertraline 100mg. Please let me know if anybody else has been given these Meds xxx

Hi my friend

I am delighted to read that your pain management appointment went so well for you. I have never taken Tapentadol but I have pasted the result of a *Google search below:

*Tapentadol is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. Tapentadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain. The extended-release form of this medicine (Nucynta ER) is for around-the-clock treatment of pain that is not controlled by other medicines.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your new medications and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken x :)

Hi there. Short reply is I've been on tapentadol as Nucynta ER for 4 years. I had to clear it out of my system once for a test. My body ached to the bone with constant sneezing and a runny nose. I was miserable for a whole day. I believe it works very well. You might ask your pain management doc to go through your meds and eliminate the ones you no longer need because of the Tapentadol. First check the price. It's quite pricey, but it works. I'd rather pay for a medication that helps than several plus that don't. If you have fibromyalgia, Neurontin or Lyrica works well with the tapentadol. Only your MD can decide the "mgs." I'm glad you may have found something that will keep you more comfortable. We all knows how achingly exhausting it is dealing with pain. Blessings...

Hi

I am glad you felt the appointment went well and your doctor helpful.

I have never taken this medication and had never heard of it until your post. After Googling though, I am surprised that you have been given this with Tramadol as both are opoids.

Read the leaflet that comes with this and check carefully the dosage, side effects and if they can be taken at the same time.

If in any doubt, give the pharmacy a ring.

I hope these work well for you and you get relief.

Kay

The dosage and the medication were prescribed by the pain clinic. 1 x 50mg tapentadol twice daily and 1 x 50mg tramadol 4 times daily, plus 75mg amitriptyline nightly. All other my other Meds withdrawn.

Hi Billysmini

I am on Tapentadol I take the slow release ones 200mg every 12 hours, they do help a bit, but be very careful and don't miss a dose as I get the most awful withdrawels, I take it as soon as I realise what is wrong, I do hope they help you I was giving them as I can not take anything that has morphine based makes me really sick, I would ask your Dr if it is alright to take Tramadol at the same time, just to be sure.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas

Love & Hugs
