I have come across this homeopathic cream Topricin which claims to help relieve pain associated with Fibromyalgia and neuropathy... has anyone used this stuff or come across it?? if so please can you tell me whether you thought it helped or made a difference. I'm a bit worried about using it, it states that it's all natural and doesn't have any side effects but some of the ingredients listed is giving me anxiety for example it has snake venom and Belladonna which I believe is a highly toxic poisonous plant! I ordered it from amazon and there were various raving reviews about it mainly from people who have used it in America. I'm hoping someone in the uk can help ease my worries if they have used it. I Googled, always a bit sceptical on these types of things. Mostly seems to be adverts for this as a cream. One piece from Fibro Myalgia Association talks about detox etc. I couldn't find anything that says what the magical ingredient is, the how, why and wherefores. Not cheap either. With the scale of FM amongst the general population becoming clear I cant help but feel if this is that good, the Medical World and Media in general would have picked it up by now. We cant know what's really in it and I think that's potentially dangerous. I think you're right to be wary. I wish you well. XX
As an avid gardener I can tell you that Belladonna is more commonly known as ''Deadly Nightshade'' but it is used in a great number of different medications. I have pasted you an excerpt below from the *WebMD cache on this issue:
*Belladonna is a plant. The leaf and root are used to make medicine.
The name “belladonna” means “beautiful lady,” and was chosen because of a risky practice in Italy. The belladonna berry juice was used historically in Italy to enlarge the pupils of women, giving them a striking appearance. This was not a good idea, because belladonna can be poisonous.
Though widely regarded as unsafe, belladonna is used as a sedative, to stop bronchial spasms in asthma and whooping cough, and as a cold and hay fever remedy. It is also used for Parkinson's disease, colic, motion sickness, and as a painkiller.
Belladonna is used in ointments that are applied to the skin for joint pain (rheumatism), leg pain caused by a disc in the backbone pushing on the sciatic nerve (sciatica), and nerve pain (neuralgia). Hi I am always very sceptical about buying anything in the way of liquid, creams etc online. I have just read Ken's post he obviously knows a lot about this product. Be very careful what you buy online. I Fully understand that we are so desperate at times to be free of pain that we will try most things. Be very careful to what you use. Hi there, I hope I can help re your worries as I am a Homeopath.
So firstly, if the cream is Homeopathic, in layman's terms, it will have less than one molecule of snake venom and the same for Belladonna. This is because when we make a remedy out of a plant, animal or metal, a tiny amount is used, ground down in a pestle and mortar with milk sugar, diluted in alcohol or distilled water, shook and tapped a specific amount of times, then 1 drop of the mixture is diluted yet again into a glass tube, and the process is repeated a number of times to make the remedy, we call it trituration and succession, the more times it is done, the less of the original item, is left, but the more powerful the remedy becomes. The easiest comparison that I can give you, so that you understand why it can cure, is to think about magnetism. Two pieces of metal that are normal, are rubbed together a number of times, and they become powerfully magnetic by the process. Hope that helps.
Another thing that I should say, is that the cream should not be advertised as Homeopathic because in classical Homeopathy, we firstly would only use 1 remedy at a time, and I see this cream had a snake venom and Belladonna, so I'm not happy to hear that this company is calling it homeopathic as there is an animal kingdom, and a plant kingdom essence with in it.
Secondly, in Homeopathy, we would not add a remedy to a cream, we would only add it to pure alcohol or distilled water, and either give it to the patient as a tincture to swallow, or place a drop in a milk sugar pillule because these are the only thing that keep the remedy in its remedy characteristic. If you add it to manufactured cream, the other ingredients in the cream, alter the remedy, invalidating it as Homeopathic.
Also, we would would not treat a patient with homeopathy, through the skin. We would only ever give the remedy orally orolfactory to be absorbed through a mucous membrane because a human organism only heals centrifugally (from centre of the body, to circumference ie skin). Example, we would not recommend treating a skin condition via the skin as the dis-ease is pushed further into the body, and a rash may disappear, but the dis-ease will through out symptoms elsewhere.
The cream you mention should be advertised as a natural based remedy, for acute pain, and not chronic pain. It may well get rid of for example pain in one area that's acute, but it may well cause another health complaint in the future, that you can't predict, it depends on the persons susceptibility. I literally mean anything depending on that person.
One more thing to mention, is that every human is different, and the reasoning behind their symptoms, especially if chronic, is different. Homeopathy will only work on a person, where the remedy has been matched exactly to that persons unique presentation. Even down to sleep patterns, where a person wakes at a specific time each day, the type of pain such as shooting, stabbing, thumping, drawing, colouring of skin and hair, behaviours, what makes a symptom better or worse e.g. Heat, cold, eating specific food, desires and versions, the list goes on. The 30c remedies you can buy in health food shops are for acute where you have something short term such as tonsillitis, ear infections, verruca and warts, flu colds etc.

No worries at all! I do think this too; natural ingredients but not Homeopthic. No harm in trying it for an injured joint, but not for chronic whole body pain in afraid 😢
