Hi all

Am new to this so thanks for reading!

I was diagnosed with Fibro about 4 years ago by a Rheumatologist. Was told there is no cure and to just take paracetamol!

GP then prescribed anti depressants and codeine but don't want to take these forever!

Someone has recommended cannabis oil - has anyone tried it?

Thanks in advance x

Hi Erny

Thank you. In the nicest possible way, it's good to hear of others that are feeling the same, not that I want you to be in any pain at all!

It's hard to speak with friends and family. They listen and say the right things but they can't understand.

I hope I don't use this forum as a platform to moan so much! But maybe that it's what it's for I suppose.

I hope you manage to find peace and sleep tonight

Hi Lozza1982

I feel your pain literally.

Please please go and see your GP and ask for the following :

A review of your medications. There are stronger meds that can be prescribed to you.

Please also ask for a referral to a Pain Management Clinic.

Take someone with you to your GP appointment for moral support and write a note of the things you want to discuss.

Also have a look at the organisation called MIND. Here is a link to their website mind.org

They run free anxiety courses and can offer you a Project Worker to see on a one to one basis for a year - free.

I have used MIND myself and can highly recommend them.

You don't need to be depressed to access their services and all the courses they run are free. We look after our physical health but our mental health is just as important.

I would definitely go down the GP route before you try anything else. There could well be a prescription med which will suit you and help your pain.

Please ask me anything you like. I have had Fibro, ME and HMS for 36 years.

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hi Lu, thanks for reply.

I know that's what I need to do but so many things are stopping me. I don't want to be a burden or actually voice my feelings about it all. I feel like the more I talk about it out loud, fibromyalgia has won. Pride is a bugger isn't it?!

I also know I can't continue like this. It's ruining me, I'm only 34.

But you're right, I will go to GP and insist on more.

Thanks for listening. I hope you are having a 'good' day/night and are not in too much pain.

Xx

Hi again 😊

How about we try to change your thinking around?

If you start looking for help with your Fibromyalgia YOU are winning because you are looking for some mechanisms to help you cope with how it is making you feel.

You are NOT being a burden. You are making a very sensible step towards getting some relief.

You have already made your first step by talking to us here. Your next step is to see your GP.

If you'd like to talk some more please let me know and I'd be more than happy to chat with you.

Think about it as making a good positive step forward which is what I think you are doing.

Take care of yourself.

To clarify a few points.

Firstly there is so much confusion around this substance and substances that people refer to as cannabis, (it is however not cannabis) it is a CBD oil that is legally obtainable but of questionable value from what I can ascertain,, the most common effect it seems to have is that of providing most with a thumping headache.

The second is a drug that Dr's can provide again it is not Cannabis, the chemical structure of this drug resembles one of the compounds from cannabis but there the similarity ends.

I have heard that in the UK one can only have a possibility to obtain real cannabis legally with an MS diagnosis but I know nothing of the process.

If you are in USA you can get it legally in many of the States at present.

There are many different types and subtypes and from the information I have read different ones are better for different things,,, if you are interested a bit of calm searching and you should be able to glean much information through a search on the internet,,, perhaps something like "cannabis strains for fibromyalgia".

If you are in USA there are specialist Dr's who know the properties of each strain and can prescribe accordingly for the condition through specialist pharmacies.

At this stage you are probably non the wiser, you are however much better informed,, at least you will not be tempted to go searching out some shady neighbourhood drug dealer and getting yourself arrested.

My best advise would to to try supplementing magnesium citrate, or start eating lightly steamed spinach with each meal as a rich source of magnesium and see how that goes!

Best Wishes, Ray

Hi Lozza1982

I use a MediPen which is a CBD inhalator and I find it quite useful for pain. However, as RayB says many users, (myself included) find that if they use too much they suffer from very bad headaches on a par with a hangover.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you
