So Damn Tired

I got the flu like 3 weeks ago. I took the meds but that flu knocked me out BADLY. The meds helped on the sneezing and 'cold' part but my body hasn't recovered yet. I feel so beat as if the flu has resurfaced my fibromyalgia or is working hand in hand. I am physically, emotionally and mentally tired. I am functioning at 2/10. Everything aches and currently too broke to get fibromyalgia meds. This is exhausting

Hi Chep, I sympathize with you, I haven't formally been diagnosed with fibromyalgia yet but it seems definitely not the illness to suffer from and have other things going on like the flu. I feel like I've got the flu all the time, apart from a runny nose, am never sure if I've got a cold!

Hi

Don't know if this will help as don't know your circumstances

if you are on a low income you may be eligible to receive financial help through the NHS Low Income Scheme. To apply for an HC2 certificate, you should complete form HC1, which is available from Jobcentre Plus offices or most NHS hospitals. Your doctor, dentist or optician may be able to give you one, too. You can also get an HC1 form by calling 0300 123 0849.

Whether you qualify for help is based on a comparison between your weekly income and assessed requirements at the time the claim is made. For more information about requirements visit NHS: help with health costs.

You will qualify for a full help HC2 certificate (which includes free NHS prescriptions) if your income is less than or equal to your requirements, or your income is greater than your requirements by no more than half the current English prescription charge.

You will qualify for a limited help HC3 certificate if your income is greater than your requirements by more than half the current English prescription charge. The HC3 certificate shows how much you have to pay towards your health costs.

Certificates are usually valid for periods of between six months and five years, depending on your circumstances.

Find out more about the NHS Low Income Scheme (LIS).

Hi Rose. Thank you for that info. I am in Kenya and here Fibromyalgia is barely recognised. It took me years to find a doctor who recognised what I had. Insurances on this side are abit pricey.

Hi

I see

I hope you find some way of paying for what you need .

We complain about National Health Service in UK but we are lucky we have it

Hey, my only relief right at the minute is laughing at myself trying to work out why I love/hate watching strictly come dancing.

Just on the flu front unfortunately I think you will find that if you have any infection or virus it will longer much longer than before. As we already suffer with fatigue a virus of course just makes this worse. Hope you start to pick up soon.x

Sometimes our body is put under so much stress from illness we feel the fatigue much more and for longer. It is just a case of waiting for it to lessen.

I offer my commiserations, it is miserable being unwell for so long.

So sorry you feel exhausted and run down. i have found berocca helpful when ive been like this after bad colds. it doesnt taste great (the orange is ok) but if i have two a day i normally feel 50% better in a couple of days. or your pharmacist could suggest something similar probably, to help with post flu fatigue.

Hope you recover soon.

X
