Well I'm feeling a bit better today so got a haircut and styled my hair. I figured life may have those days, but I may as well try to make the best of it. It's been about a year since I hadn't had my hair in anything but a ponytail or a bun. I think my husband was rather shocked lol. This illness has really made me live in some difficult days. The meds seems to be helping now that my Fibro diagnoses was established. To think the last 15 years I suffered thinking it was just my thyroid causing all my pain. At least now I'm getting some help.

Hi my friend

I am genuinely delighted to read that you managed to get your hair done. I sincerely hope that you feel better in your self for having this done? I think we can all relate to what you are saying about ''difficult days,'' I know I have had plenty of those. I genuinely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I could really relate to your post. This condition can really bring us down and leave us feeling not so good about ourselves. I swing between being too tired and in too much pain to care any more and then knowing self care and tlc are more important than ever. Thanks for the reminder x

Hi

Good for you

We don't spoil ourselves enough and that's really important

Living with Thyroid illness is not easy especially with other illnesses

Have you had vitamins levels checked only ask as my GP refused to do mine but due to persistence he eventually gave in and I was very low in vitamin D since taken that have managed to lower Thyroid meds.

That's interesting! I'm on a very high dose of thyroid med. My doctor said at one point, it was so low she was surprised I wasn't in a coma. It was the worst she's seen. I am going to take a look at trying Vit D! Thanks

I understand completely! With my illnesses I have to pay to have my hair washed and with limited income that's a treat...but oh how wonderful it feels after its done! I have problems with lifting my hands up over my head and I'll feel sometimes like people get sick of hearing that I need something again but my momma told me a sweet reminder the other night...she said honey when you don't mention what you need you steal the blessing of bringing others joy in helping you. So I try to be more open now...I hope you know that we're all in this together! Thinking of you and sending hugs - ;)

Sounds like we both got lucky with great moms! She just stood by me and got me through a long hospital stay. Had sepsis, kidney failure...etc. But now I'm on the mend...she won't let her girl give up the good fight! Like you said we are in this together so always know I'm here for you! Much love & hugs;) Christy

Hi

I am so glad that you have had your hair done and it has made you feel better, anything we can do to make ourselves feel like normal human beings has got to be good, we are all in this together and I found that it has helped me a lot knowing there are others out there feeling the same, so lets make a stand and say you won't beat us and keep on smiling.

Love & Hugs

I lopped off my waist length hair a month ago. I was just so fed up with the palaver of dealing with it.

Yes that is what I have decided to do spend money on my hair. Before this fibro menace I had a cut about 4 times a year and if I wanted colour on did it myself. I was noted for my nice hair. Fibro struck and as we know just getting up in the mornings could be a struggle so hair for washed whoever and often pulled back in a clip and also the illness combined with the meds seemed to make it much thinner.

I then started to go more regularly to have a good cut and colour. Since moving here have found an excellent hairdresser just a short walk away who does the same thing as the old hairdresser for,£30 less and actually does it better. Have realised that a good cut and colour does masses for my confidence and makes it easier to manage which to me is a no brainer.

So glad you have a diagnosis and that the treatment is making things easier for you. So many of the forum members also have Thyroid issues and there are symptoms that are common to both and this can cause issues with diagnosis. Do hope you keep on improving.x
