Yes absolutely terrible. Have always had some problems with allergies but since having fibro it is much worse. I already take an antihistamine and have a prescribed nasal spray. I think the nasal spray makes things worse to be quite honest.

A more natural remedy I have found helps is having a Sinus rinse with one of those bottles and sachets. You can actually do your own mix as well if money is a bit tight. It washes out all the gunge and seems to make it easier to breathe and there seems to be less mucus. I am now religiously doing a flush once a day just before settling down at night as sometimes I was nearly choking and there has been an improvement already.

Like you any other suggestions would be welcome.x

Hi rosewine

I'd highly recommend that you don't use the nasal spray.

You end up getting what they call "rebound".

This means your symptoms all return but much worse.

Yes Lu BlueMermaid3 I only occasionally use the spray now even though it is prescribed and supposed to be used daily as I don't like the stuff. Specialist also told me I should use it but what do they know I reckon we know our own bodies better don't you and what does or doesn't suit us.x

Do you eat dairy/wheat ? How much water do u drink? And have you had allergy/intolerance testing done??

in reply to Ccollo

Hi Ccolla...

I have reduced milk intake an most dairy products & am taking plenty of water...

Am reading a book which suggests mucus an phosphate build up spreads throughout the body an may attribute to FmS...!

Hiya Rosewine...

I have been using Nasonex" nasal spray which works for a while, my doc says I could either keep using it or move to a warmer country lol

I was wondering if I can get the warmer country on NHS prescription? lol

I'm half way through a book called, "what your doctor may not tell you about fibromyalgia" it teaches that "guaifenesin" (the stuff in cough medicine) may be able to reverse the effects of FmS an I'm thinking there may be some link to it an mucus!

I have only found light relied from these sprays. When I was in hospital as a child with sever asthma they did various tests and I was highly allergic to feathers, fur, dust, strawberries and any fruit with hairs. In later life I went to see an ear, nose and throat specialist and he did tests (not on foods) but the others and miracously those came out as no longer allergies. I constantly blow my nose and sometimes it just suddenly starts dropping even though it may not feel congested which is very embarrassing. I must me so the hankie and tissue industry going. Slightest wind, heat or walking near trees or in garden especially certain times of day and my nose literally pours. I am constantly having to say to people I haven't got an infection, grhh.

Yes when the GPs say these things you do wish you could have them on prescription. My OH was told when he was suffering with anxiety to have a couple of drinks a night by our GP next time I saw him I asked for a prescription for it! Take care.x

Hi Rosewine...

Yeah I know the feeling, I can't go anywhere without my tissues, an sometimes a big red snout, even on the best of days I'm blowing me nose with ears popping too...!

There seems to be no end to these FmS symptoms.

I'm totally sick, sore an tired of being sick, sore an tired...!

Been up again all night, its 10:15am an the sun is shining outside an I'm wrecked an ready for bed.

Anyhow, best wishes

I can sympathise had a really strange night it was booking hit here with mini thunderstorms and it seems to have badly affected me. I felt I could have snoozed when it was time to get up and am aching with a spinning head. I am religiously using those sinus washes this week and there has been some improvement but it builds up again as the day goes on, yuck.

Unfortunately, I haven't got the smallest of noses so of course the last thing I want is to bring attention to it.

Have acupuncture appt. after dinner and just can't seem to get up any enthusiasm but hopefully he can do something. Missed a week last week as he was on holiday and I am wondering whether it is my bodies reaction to no treatment. Hope you will feel better as the day goes onx

Hi Hidden

Sometimes I think it would be easier to say what I don't have!!

I have constantly blocked sinuses.

About 10 years ago I had the same thing. Saw a Consultant as it went on for a long time.

Ended up having polyps removed and had splints in my nose for 2 weeks. I was told that there was a possibility that they could grow back in about 10 years.

Looks like I've hit the jackpot!!

Hi Lu...

I know the feeling, it's like what we feel like saying when someone asks how we are an instead we say the usual easy answer, " Not TOO bad...!" Lol

Hope your getting some times of refreshing Lu :)

Hi my friend

I certainly do and it is down to my COPD. It leaves me with chronic headaches and unable to breath at times. It is truly awful. Some medications can also cause this including aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others), and high blood pressure (hypertension) medications, such as beta blockers.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Well TheAuthor Ken I never knew Ibuprophen can cause it as I have been on that at a high dose for about 6 years now, problem is I think that particular drug helps my osteo pain the best. We are in a cleft stick with meds aren't we helps one thing and gives us another, grhh.x

That is a shame my friend as they usually prescribe high doses of NSAID's for Osteoarthritis! I cannot take them myself due to my asthma and COPD though x

Thank you my friend that is genuinely appreciated. I sincerely hope that you are well today :)

The thing with taking meds is many stay in your body far longer than you realise! as carried in the fat layers esp those ones that you have to build up to work ie amytrypline slow to work slow to leave body.

So when use others they end up sort of combining to become something else causing larger issues.

The other thing with using likes of what you have used to clear like nasal sprays do clear taking your natural things also so when issues return as they do/will instead of getting a trickle as your natural things will slow it down you end up with a torrent as no natural barriers left like in the way with mouth washes cleans mouth but also cleans all so left open to issues/infections why they don't recommend them now apart from a couple.

I get mucus issues often bring yellow bits up esp in morning also get a poz test for blood clot with d dimer Doc @A&E seems to think to do with Raynauds yet one in breathing clinic is trying to head with BMI type area! yet if was from that i'd have high BP& heart rate high which have niether plus sometimes im pretty ok where as other times very poor!

Yet they don't take Fibro/Raynauds into it.

Just seems like we are in a different world to them?
