Has any one put on weight taking these tablets, or is there a way of taking them without putting on so much weight, I am seriously thinking of not taking them at all
Amtitrpeline: Has any one put on weight... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Amtitrpeline
I was put on those when I was first diagnose and within a month and a half I put on almost 15 pounds. I didn't change how I was eating, I was doing Pilates like I was before. So I went back to my Rheumy and said I am gaining weight with this is there something else? So she let me try gabapentin, but I gain with that too. So I looked up myself and seen that topamax can also possibly help with fibro. I asked her about that, so I have been on that for now almost 3 months and no weight gain, and it does help a little with symptoms. But just like all it can have side effects too.
Hi Christinem51
I know what you mean about the weight I was on amitriptyline years ago and it never helped me I found that what ever tablet they tried me on It always made me put weight on now I am border line diabetic , if they help you don't just come off them speak to your Dr he might be able to help you, just think about this at least it keeps lines at bay and we look younger then we are. Try to keep smiling a laugh a day is better then a pill.

I have gained weight a bit, but pregabalin was allot worse for me! Please don't come off the amitriptyline without letting a doctor know, and gradually reducing the amount down to then taking nothing would be much more advisable than stopping suddenly, as this can have very serious side effects also (((hugs))) to you my friend.
I am taking a concoction of drugs to help with various conditions, but In my opinion (and that's all it is!) Amitriptyline is the better and less harsh on the brain than gabapentin or pregabalin. And to be honest, I would rather have a bit more "junk in the trunk!" than be a nutcase, as that also happened to me.

I was so my dr changed me to Celexa but I don't get the sleep I did from Amitriptyline. 😟 I've gotten use to not having them but that deep sleep was nice!! Good luck.Peck 🐤

I am not taking this medication but I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with this. It may help to talk to your doctor about the side effects that you are experiencing? Please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Christinem51 ,
I take nortryptyline the sister drug of amytriptyline at night to help aid sleep.
According to the pain management pharmacist, there are fewer side effects!
I have taken this med for over 2 months now and have not gained any weight!
Have a word with your GP!

I'm on duloxetine and have been for two years now with no weight gain, in fact I lost two stone on them and have kept it off, they seem to put me of my food, and have helped a wee bit with pain, need my other pain killers with them tho, I only take 60mg of duloxetine in the morning with pain killers. I don't know if it's the tablets that's caused the weight loss, but the minute I started taking them I started losing the weight. X
I have been taking these along with several other medications and although I do not eat a lot I eat nothing in the morning maybe a slice of toast at lunchtime and soup and a sandwich for dinner I have since my stroke in 2014 put on 20kgs and I asked both my chemist and doctor is the medications causing my weight gain and both told me no it is down to calorie intake so I said I eat any less I will die of starvation I am sure that medication has something got do with weight gain
