Hello xLulz= Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours) you are a mirror of many ailments that I suffer, I am quite sure you have fibro but your doctor is probably right about tennis or golf elbows and your OA. my knees have little cartiledge which causes pain in the joints, I am trying to build up my muscle tone so that the joints don't, get the weight and strain, my neck muscles and shoulders are OA but I have history of Ankylosing Spondilitis and that has left neck injury and so I get a strain if I keep my head down too long. Resting-you are correct fibro does not like "rest" it likes movement- I have hydrotherapy weekly and sometimes I go to a local pool and use the Jacuzzi, the warm water seems to ease muscular pain. Elbows both sides, knees, hips and areas of the neck can be injected with a mild steroid which lasts a few months-ask your g.p about being referred to a pain clinic, once your pain is at a level you can live with then ask g.p about hydrotherapy to keep muscles pumped up and top it up yourself with a Jacuzzi soak in the bubbles. Stay with us on the forum as there is lots of useful help, air caution on altering drug therapy-doctors only instruct on this!

Thank you for your Reply, with my Doctor's it's hard to get them to send me for X-Rays they just send me to Physiotherapy, my Old Doctor's pre 2008 done the X-Ray's on my Spine, I asked why they don't X-Ray me they said it is because of the radiation in so many words, thing's are getting that bad now sometime's I feels like I needs a Wheelchair, i've been thinking about having the Injections but i'm a little scared to have them in my Spine

Hi

As I'm no dr, I can't really tell you.

Are they taking X-Ray's of your shoulders? As this should tell them if it's osteo arth, won't it. I had my knees stayed and my dr said I had osteo arth there.

If it isn't that then I would suggest to your dr that you might have fibro?

The mother page has info on it and so does the NHS have a web page on fibro too.

Good luck and best wishes.

I too am no medic.

I have OA and Osteoporsis amongst others. I would ask for scan not Xray as soft tissues turn up on MRI or ultra sound.

An average Rheumi should do full screening if Fibro is suspected to rule out other issues.

Suggest you ask for Rheumi appointment to see what is going on. All my best wishes

Thank you for your Reply, I already asked my Doctor can I see a Rheumatologist as my Benefits Adviser from "Mind" suggested but the Doctor said there's not alot a Rheumatologist can do for me but I think she said that because we was talking about the Osteoarthritis.

As fibropop said there is a lot of information on our mother page. The link is fmauk.org

Have a read and see if it adds up. Try asking your doctor to refer you to a Rhumatologist or a Neurologist. both can give a diagnosis of fibro.

Sorry this is a bit disjointed. tired and headachy now.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Sue.

Hi there

I think your best option would be to ask your GP to refer you to see a Rheumatologist.

They are the Consultants who specialise in Fibromyalgia.

That way you will then know what you are dealing with.

Wishing you all the very best in finding an answer.

Try asking to see the GP practice manager and express your frustration at not getting a good service. In a situation of long term conditions your relationship with GP and medics in general generates into partners not you just accepting what they say!

You are the expert in knowing how you feel?

Below is the criteria from the NHS site, which should help you initially. Check yourself, then as suggested, get referred to a RheumyCon, who should do similar tests.

Unfortunately, there is no blood test that can identify Fibro, it's what they call a 'clinical' diagnosis. If you do get referred, please come back ant tell us how you got on. Feedback is important on this site, as it helps us share the right suggestions.

Good luck, Hayesider xx

Hi xLulzx

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so gneuinely sorry to read that your GP will not give you a referral to a Rheumatologist, and I was wondering if there was a different GP at your surgery who you could make an appointment to discuss this with? You could possibly tell them your belief that you may have Fibro and and would like to see one? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Same here ,people who have fibro are very lucky if that's all they suffer with ( that's quite enough to contend with) most of us have arthritis , I have leaky gut and lots of what you have said . I also have tennis and golfers elbow very painful . There is something wrong because pain is your body's way of telling you there is a problem . Has your dr examined your tender points yet ? That will tell you if you have fibro , sleeping is another pointer, or rather not sleeping is the point . Excersise does help when your not too tired . The list is endless and don't think it's all down to arthritis . Wishing you the very best .
