Give your fibromyalgia a nickname

As a 20 year+ sufferer I just remembered that I dealt with family and friends by giving my condition a nickname and for the life of me I can't remember what it was. But it was very effective. I would say "sorry cant go out today as xxxx has come to visit. She will be probably be gone by xxx." This way friends wouldn't feel they had to commiserate and I didn't feel like a hypochondriac. I even began talking to "her" (same sex name) if I had the energy. I used to say things like. "Ok how long will you be around this time? I haven't got tie to deal with you. No I am not "barking" but I owned her and it was surprisingly effective and made everyone else more comfortable.

I think of mine as a monster who, if it doesnt get its own way throws a temper tantrum and breaks out of its cage. It can take quite a while of being nice to it before its back inits cage. It is called Fibron.

I call my osteoarthritis Arthur. Hadn't thought of a name for my Fibro....... Probably because it's a short word. But it's a great idea. I need to think of a good name and get back to you.

On a public forum I wouldn't like to say what I call mine but it certainly isn't welcome in my life. It is one friend (enemy) I could do without. If it never called in me again it would be too soon.x

I haven't given my Fibro a name, but I have named my post surgical hernia Herman! Perhaps I'll take a Terry Pratchett moment and call the Fibro the Embuggerance!
